business cards
Somewhere around here I read the suggestion that it might be worthwhile to have business cards to hand out at comic conventions to advertise myself as a writer. I hadn't thought about it much since then, but since I'm going to Emerald City on Sunday, I was wondering if it's something I should do after all.
What kind of information would you, as a writer, put on your business card? What would you want to see, as an artist, if a writer were to give you a business card? Would my time be better spent carrying multiple copies of my short scripts with my name an email address on them? |

If you are on the fence just go to vistaprint and get some cheap/free business cards. They suck but no one cares. If you want to look more professional call a real printer (I can give you a number for having fancy letterpress cards printed up).

Since the shows in a few days you'll have to go to Kinkos, Staples, Office Depot or whoever's close to you.
Have a nice little graphic, like a monkey at a type writer or whatever. Plus your name, contact info (phone number, email address and website if you have it) and of course it should say writer on it. Also carry your short scripts with you, make sure your contact info is on them as well. A card is always good to have, they're more than likely to keep that than the scripts - takes up less room and fits in a wallet. Plus it's viewed as more professional to have a card.
