Stealing the "Jar"
I've decided to steal Mr. Hodges' "Jar-lottery" idea for my New Year's Resolution
. I want to get myself sketching again and to stop drawing the same things I always do. I need some suggestions for things to throw into the jar. RULES: Short ideas or character names only (nothing too specific); I am trying to strengthen my basic anatomy/facial features, especially on females .THINGS TO KNOW: I do far too many zombies, corpses, demons, monsters, etc. So only a few will be in there. |

What you need to do is put in stuff you normally do not draw and start there. Any heroes, villains, random comic characters. Film and TV characters... whatever. You shouldn't take requests, just make a list and go.
Just post art and not the "idea" of the thread. Sorry to be blunt, but Dude, freakin' draw and post something. |

Gotta agree 100% with Mr Hodges. Do what I did, go to Wiki, then pull up the Marvel and DC lists, cut them into pieces, and draw. (I stick a list to the dark board and toss, myself).

Tom: I appreciate the input, and the blunt motivation!
I wasn't really posting this as an idea for a thread; I wasn't even sure how many of them I would bother posting. I have a small list, but I ran out of ideas and I want to get started a.s.a.p., so I came to the source of infinite knowledge that is The Internet! But I see what you mean, now... Skottichan: That's a good suggestion, but I don't have encyclopediac knowledge of all Marvel and DC characters, so I'd end up having to find reference pictures for a ton of them and not be able to just draw them; thereby defeating the purpose of the exercise (as the outside input would alter my perception a bit.) My problem was that I sat down to make a HUGE list, and ended up with what I feel is a tiny list of ideas. I think it's just one of those things where you build something up in your head so much that when it comes time to do it, you draw a blank.

You know what would be fun? We should post some sort of printable list up that we can cut up and toss in our own jars. I'd like to have sort of a random list of characters I might not have thought about. We could take suggestions and pop them on the list.
