The Black Donnelly's

Anybody watching this show? I just got the pilot episode off of iTunes for free and I freakin' loved it.

It's about 4 brothers who are technically not the Irish mob, but appear to be becoming the Irish mob vs the Italian mob.

Ya'll should check it out!

If you liked the movie "The Departed" you'll probably dig this.

NBC seems to be big on the whole Irish family thing, they have "Crossing Jordan" which until recently used to have a strong Irish theme. Then they did "Kidnapped" which rooted into the Irish mob. And they have the ever so long battle on the soap opera "Days of Our Lives" of the Brady's (not the mob, but Irish) vs The Dimera's (the italians) vs The Kiriakis' (which is basically half irish/half italian since the Brady's and the Kiriakis' married into each other.)

this show seems like something that i would have really been into 10 yrs ago, but it just follows all the cliches of the good fellas, the god father and countless movies of working class people coming into their own while they weave their way thru the dangers of the neighborhood.

the lead characters are street wise, but deep down have good hearts and only the real evil people get hurt, except when it's an accident.

complete with the narration i saw and liked a lot of movies (can't think of 1 i can name) like this all thru the '90's.

don't get me wrong, this is done well, but i've seen all this before.

It's like Wonder Years only with Irish Mafia. Also it's ratings are poorer than the show it replaced so look for it to also take the long dirt nap.

Meh, Winnie was hotter.

I like it. Unfortunately, I was a bigger fan of Studio 60 on The Sunset Strip. I didn't think that show was doing so bad it had to be canned. Perhaps this is just one of those ever-popular "season breaks?" I'm good with either show.

After the second episode especially, it seems more along the lines of the one guy with half a brain keeping the rest of the family from self-destructing. The rest is just a question of the environment in which that happens.

I'm enjoying it so far. I'll have to see where it goes in the next couple of episodes.

Catalyst635 is on a distinguished road
It isn't helping that the ads for the show give away the entire story before it even starts.
