Hey, guys. It's been a long time. (I shouldn't have left you. Without a strong rhyme to... etc.)

While back I shared the script to the first five pages of Theodicy Issue 2. Just thought I'd return now that some of the pencils have come in for thoughts and comments.

So, I like how russbrett posted the script for each page, so I copied him.

After reading through some of Steven Forbes comments on that thread, I can already spot a few mistakes we made, but I'm gonna post it anyway.

Here's the script for page one:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PAGE ONE

FULL PAGE SPLASH - Early Morning. Looking down at a dozen heavily-armed, elite soldiers, all wearing jet-black, ceramic body armor. Across their chest plates is the sinister, imposing corporate insignia of the SANCTION COLLECTION AGENCY.

Across the visors on all of their helmets is a visible digital counter. All their visors display exactly the same time: 2:58.

Dominating the frame, towering above the rank and file, straddling two armored TRANSPORT TANKS (one foot on each tank), and wearing the SPECIALIZED ARMOR of a Sanction Battalion Leader, is COMMANDER GRAVES.

He is calmly, matter-of-factly staring up at us through the viewfinder of a large, sinister-looking ROCKET LAUNCHER mounted on his shoulder.

GRAVES: ATTENTION DELINQUENT ACCOUNT HOLDERS. WE ARE THE SANCTION COLLECTION AGENCY.

GRAVES: THIS IS AN ATTEMPT TO COLLECT A DEBT.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here's Fernando Brazuna's pencils:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PAGE TWO
1 - REVERSE looking over Graves’ head up towards an ordinary, suburban, two-story home. We can see a FRIGHTENED FAMILY huddled inside, peeking through the windows.

GRAVES: SANCTION IS NOT YOUR CREDITOR. SANCTION HAS BEEN RETAINED BY YOUR CREDITORS IN AN ATTEMPT TO BRING YOUR ACCOUNT CURRENT.

2 - Close up of a frightened elderly man inside the house, looking down through a window.

GRAVES: SANCTION DOES NOT NEGOTIATE.

GRAVES: WE OFFER ONLY ONE PEACEFUL OPTION:

3 - Close up of a horrified middle-aged woman.

GRAVES: THE DELINQUENT DEBTOR SURRENDERS HERSELF TO US WITHIN THREE MINUTES, WITHOUT CONDITION.

4 - Close up of a terrified young mother, pulling a scared young child close to her.

GRAVES: IF THE DEBTOR REFUSES, AND WE ARE FORCED TO EXTRACT HER, WE WILL KILL EVERYONE ELSE ON THE PREMISES.

5 - Close up of Graves, as he looks up at the family inside. The digital countdown display on his visor now reads “1:29.”

GRAVES: YOUR THREE MINUTES BEGAN AT THE COMMENCEMENT OF THIS STATEMENT. YOU HAVE ONE MINUTE, THIRTY SECONDS REMAINING.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PAGE THREE
1 - A Sanction RECON TROOPER is perched on the roof of a neighboring house, overlooking the scene.

GRAVES (over radio): GOOD MORNING, MR. FORD. WHAT ARE WE DEALING WITH?

2 - Ford’s POV through INFRARED GOGGLES. We see HEAT SIGNATURES of the family inside the target home.

Several red-hot humanoid shapes holding blue-green handguns huddle around a large window near the front of the house.

FORD (over radio): TEN CIVVIES. FIVE OF 'EM ARMED. ALL HUDDLED AROUND THE MAIN WINDOW LIKE THEY'RE IN A FUCKING WESTERN.

3 - An adult male heat signature approaches the shapely heat signature of a young woman.

FORD (over radio): HERE WE GO. RUNNER'S IN A BEDROOM ON THE SOUTHWEST CORNER. LOOKS LIKE SHE'S GONNA BE AN EARNER.

4 - Close up, as the adult male heat signature hands the young woman’s heat signature a handgun.

FORD (over radio): WHOOPS. DADDY JUST HANDED HER A PIECE. LOOKS LIKE HE'S GIVING HER THE OLD "SAVE ONE FOR YOURSELF" SPEECH.

5 - On Graves, on the ground now, prepping his weapons. The timer on his visor now reads 0:02.

GRAVES: OUR REPUTATION PRECEDES US.

GRAVES: NO NEED TO WASTE AMMO. HARD LIGHT WEAPONS ONLY INSIDE.

GRAVES: SONIC ROUNDS ON MY MARK.

GRAVES: MARK.

6 - A line of Sanction soldiers OPEN FIRE.

(Note: their visors display the countdown, and all of their visors read 0:00.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

My name is John Wilkey. I am an aspiring writer and creator. My first graphic novel will be self published this summer. It was a trial & error, 200 page learning experience that took a good number of years. Now, I would like to change tactics and focus exclusively on the submission package or pitches. The reason I am asking for artists to be in the NJ/NYC area is because I would like to be able to work closely and personally with the artist, after working long distance with artists from Indonesia and Brazil for my graphic novel. I also know that if I want the best, I have to pay for it. Please let me know if I have caught your interest and I will happily arrange to share my pitches with you. Bear that in mind. I have more than one so if one doesn't fit, we can consider another. The same goes with the submission process. If one doesn't catch on then I will try another. Thanks for your time.
To help my dad with costs over those last few years, was one of the main reasons why the bank foreclosed on our house and forced us into Housing. Now housing is telling us we make too much money and we missed our recertification date and our evicting us in 30 days. :(

Because I've missed so much work... I may not have a job when I return.

THEN... then to make my month extra special... an artist I (thought) respected told me drawing a living brain in a jar and a 500lbs orangutang ninja, was -- CHILDISH!

I'm looking for someone in the Dave McKean, David Mack, Sean Murphy mould, for a very Sandman-esque project.

Successful artist must have a solid work ethic and be capable of delivering a steady flow of pages.

Pay will be back end, but exists. If you are looking to get rich, you won't. If you are looking for a project to make your name on, this could be right for you.

If you are interested in taking a serious step up the ladder, email samples to darrinotoole AT gmail.com
