Hey, wouldn't Mario count as the next BR artist? Since the RBR issues are gonna hit before this one? This artist is the one after the next. LOL.

wow witchblade dressed like bloodrayne...she looks like she only has 4 fingers on her left hand and 3 on her right...the angle of the right blade is off.. the lines for her nose between her eyes are off...but i expect this from the learn to draw from looking at topcow books school of art.....they spend hours on a cover or pin up and then the art falls apart telling a story...standard poses and such....i'll get this book about the same time that greg land quites tracing photographs...

Ha! Thanks for your support! We like it when we have users who's life goal is to visit a forum to complain. Keep at it! You're doing a great job.

I'll take his copy! :har:

...being a little harsh just seeing just one example of artwork, but meh.

as for me...
Trust in the eDuke. The eDuke is good. (and the rest of the BR crew is pretty cool too) :har:

i don't think i'm being harsh at all...i know where he got his style from and i know where they got that style from..it all trickles down from one or two sources...not only that but if this was but in the art forum people would have critigued this the same way i did...but since it's put up as a new artist on a book everyone raves about it.... it's funny how you leave a comment and just because it's not one that some people want to hear you accused of complaining.... but that's life :)

ummm...

Had to reply "as on of those TopCow artists in question"- I actually spend hours on story-layout-and board composition...anyone knows that! ;)

That's just for the record.

And I don't feel as much as your complaining as mush as you are looking to bitch about something you are obviously not interested in...There is a positive proactive way to give feedback if that's what you are seeking to do here.

As for influences- every artsit is influenced in his work weither directly or subliminally by other artists. Here's a news flash- Everyone does everyone after awhile...I can find alil of everything in everything if I look hard and long enough.

But enough about you-Let's talk about this work! this art looks fabulous! It's got alot fo energy-and if he's inking himself...great line work!

Looking good Ed!

Let it Rayne!

I am influenced by the Top cow on my father-in-law's farm. She tells me what to do and I (grudgingly) listen.

HB -- there's critiquing and there's being a dick.

These are critiques:
"she looks like she only has 4 fingers on her left hand and 3 on her right."
"the angle of the right blade is off."
"the lines for her nose between her eyes are off"

These are you being a dick:
"wow witchblade dressed like bloodrayne"
"but i expect this from the learn to draw from looking at topcow books school of art"
"they spend hours on a cover or pin up and then the art falls apart telling a story"
"i'll get this book about the same time that greg land quites tracing photographs"

If you don't think that's harsh, then you need a reality check. I have no problems with you leaving a comment that you don't like something (if that's what you need to do) but doing it the way you did; was belligerent.

I think you missed the point. This isn't the "artist showcase" forum its the bloodrayne forum. This post was started to promote the new artist for the next bloodrayne book. He's clearly got a lot of cool stuff going with his art and deserves a few complements not a quick dismissal.

I think most would have praised the work in the art forum, and rightly so. And Ed's right, you can critique work without being a dick. You're obviously intelligent, hellblazer, so use those brains next time.

looking back...i can see i might have sounded a wee bit harsh...so how about showing some sequentials from him..like the sample he sent to get the job and prove me wrong about the story telling thing...see what i said is not based on just seeing topcow stuff in previews and whatnot but i actually bought witchblade..had all the turner stuff and then bought other because i was thinking about sending some stuff to topcow at one point...so that's where i connected style to storytelling, from past experience....

Right now- judging from this pic- it's a promotional image to get fans of the book introduced to the artist. By seeing the pic-you can figure out the styling of it. think of it as what it is- a billboard advertisement of the product to come.

Comicbooks are all about storytelling. So i have all the confidence that Ed would have all meat no filler inbetween the pages...So basically i'm sure that the interiors will be just fine.As for connecting style with storytelling- I have never seen anyone not get work who has solid storytelling capabilities.

And Imboden...

try answering to a Cow mistress...see how that utterly grabs you.

Heya,
To be honest I have not been a fan of the BR series that have come out. The art really didn't do to much. I however picked up issue one of the new series and the story was cool. Saying that....this piece looks AWSOME. From a quick, uneducated glance u could say "oh there is another top cow wanna be" However having the ink added brings it home and his own style! Great art, would love to see the colored version on here and I will be buying issue one for the art as well as the story. Congrats Ed, home run

Personally i like it.

Maybe its because i am a Witchblade fan , and that i pick every book every months and in 95% of the case always like the different artist that came in, but well i like this pic and im sure he is gonna do a great job.

And by the way...somebody stole my spot as number 1 complainer when i was gone? :har:
