Self-Made Presents: Stan Yan - "How a career as an unsuccessful stockbroker turned into a career as a multi-zillionaire cartoonist, with no money up front!"
Join Stan Yan (http://www.squidworks.com/Stan), Denver cartoonist as he delves into his vast body of work to narrate previously published (but rarely seen) cartoons and comic stories via PowerPoint presentation and he recounts how his path through the stock brokerage industry led him to a path of unbelievable riches in comics (and other scams).
Tuesday, September 5th, 6-8 pm at Double Daughter's Salotto 1632 Market Street, Denver 303-623-3505 www.doubledaughters.com (http://www.doubledaughters.com) / Happy hour 5-8 pm nightly
Stan will also be signing copies of his latest graphic novel, The Wang: Who's Your Daddy? (http://www.squidworks.com/Stan/Wang/wyd) as well as other books he's contributed to.
Heck if nothing else, stop by, have a drink and help Stan celebrate his 36th birthday as he marinates in the self-pity of a career change so late in his life. Do not bring a gift -- your gift is your presence.

Stan Yan grew up in Denver, Colorado and went to school at the University of Colorado in Boulder where he got his bachelor’s degree in accounting. Due to the lack of sex-for-recruiting for accounting students, Yan’s life took the tragic turn into sales for the securities industry, where he has wallowed in ethical poverty on-and-off for the last thirteen years. Yan takes his frustrations out by penning graphic novels such as The Wang (http://www.squidworks.com/Stan/Wang) as well as a daily financial webcomic called, The Tickle Tape (http://www.squidworks.com/Stan/TickleTape). Currently, besides being the unwitting head of the Squid Works creator cooperative, Yan is illustrating SubCulture (http://www.subculturecomic.com) for Ape Entertainment (http://www.ape-entertainment.com); writing and illustrating various personal projects in the works and collaborations including, REVVVelations and Mr. Flingpoo; and freelancing his butt off.
