Im looking forward to constructive criticism that could help me get better, I dont know if one should specialise in either inking or colouring but am doing both of them just in case, but what would you recommend?
Hopefully will get a lot of responses from many people :bounce:

hm, overall it looks good - i would do thinner halow around his hand(our right) than watch for the line - there are some places where the lines are very thin.
For your hatches - here it is okay, personal it don't disturb me :) - you made it digital? it looks like that. like i said - a nice pic.

Hi there Thorcus friend!
I went to fix the halos and while you only mentioned the hand of our right I went and fixed all of them, I suddenly realised that the halo dont need to be big to serve its purpose !!!
However the rest of the comments I didnt quite understand, it appears you were saying that in some parts I have too thin lines ?
Then I was not left certain about the hatching lines, partly I was doing them with curvetool sometimes with lasso tool so they are of course not the same with manually done inks but you said they are okay then ? Im feeling a bit unsure of this too. One thing I noticed is that with curve tool you get these quite smooth edges while with lasso you get theses really sharp edges that are kind of standing out from the lines done with curve too while lines done with pencil are way too pixelated, no smooth edges at all
So this is how I understood to fix the inks.
Thorcus if you could be a little bit more elaborate to tell me what you meant

Does any of you have such problem by the way that when you are on front of computer doing whatever at all, after some time you start feeling sleepy ?
Because I have that and its like totally annoying, does it mean I have short consentration span or wha the hell does it mean. Nothing helps, coffee, nothing... Sometimes I find my eyes closing by themself as if Im driving and sleeping and cant control the sleep, its totally annoying !!!! When its too much there is nothing else to do than to go and lie down, however then I can just lie or even nap for about 15 minutes and then I suddenly chear up again.
I use to think its because of low thyroxine levels but now that cannot be excuse anymore because I have medication for it, what keeps you awake in front of computer doing artwork all alone in silence ?
ummm maybe some chear up music, however my computer cant stand it when Im working on photoshop and listening to music at the same time, I have no clue why but it shuts down by itself last time when I was listening to online radio, its weird

I dont mind these inks at all considering what you had to work with. My main issue would be that at times you made his pants look like straw which they arent. The straw itself looks like straw though and that isnt always the easiest thing to do so you do get some kudos for keeping your texture on those parts. I see some nice clean strokes in here and think you should just keep with it. You arent as far from being very good as you think you might be.

Oh yeh,,some greyscale inking in the all white plants/bushes would really help your character pop out some too.

Sorry if Im sounding like totally umm autistic or something  but what exactly do you mean with straw ? I quess you dont mean the straw we drink juice from by sucking it - I dont think so. Then another word for straw I found is single stalk of straw ????
now my next clue is that there is this actual straw somewhere in the picture, I dont see any stalk of straws but you might have meant the rope in his neck, is that what you meant ?
:har: Thankyou for the compliments, best things in life are for free-like the compliments :whistlin:

I never knew you can ink grey scale too, I thought its just black inking  do you think you could be able to give me any links to examples where people have used greyscale inking ?
I would be most grateful if you did  :carrot:

For starters, the whole character is made of straw,,aside from his clothes. He IS a scarecrow is he not? As for Eget's question, there are a million ways to greyscale but the most common would be feathering, hatching, using a sponge, using your fingerprint, etc. Greyscaling = not all black but not all white. I do reiterate however that i like these inks probably a bit more than the person to first crit this piece.

I think I know what you mean now by straw, the scarecrow's usually filled with them and the clothes are on top. I cant see any straws anywhere in here portruing out from holes or anything ??????????
If I did greyscale ink, would not that somehow spoil this image in the situation of colouring it, because Im currently colouring and any greyscale inking could make it look weird-well I cant really imagine now how would this greyscale inking fit here at all, a sample page could be a great help !!! :carrot:

well, for this pic i wouldn't "greyscale" something. I would let do the rest the colorist, BUT normely a pic should be looks so good, that it don't need colors. you know what i mean? Don't think on the colorist when you ink a pic - i know it doesn't work everytime, but the pic should stands alone BW :)
