PAGE 1 (5 PANELS)
PANEL 1: From an aerial view, the sprawling city of Metropolis stretches out in every direction for as far as the eye can see. It is an awe-inspiring city.
PANEL 2: High above Metropolis, Superman floats majestically, surveying the city below.
CAPTION:
My father once told me that no matter how fast I fly, how quickly I run, and no matter how powerful I become, I won’t be able to help everyone.
PANEL 3: With an expression of absolute awareness, Superman absorbs an overwhelming succession of cries for his attention.
VOICE:
Somebody help me. My husband isn’t breathing!
VOICE:
This is Sidewinder 7, all systems go aboard Lexcorp 2. Ignition in t-minus 4:00 minutes…
VOICE:
Come out with your hands raised above your head!
VOICE:
What? You think Superman is gonna rescue you?
PANEL 4: For a moment Superman is remorseful. He is pained by a stinging event from his past.
CAPTION:
At the time I thought I was infallible, incapable of failure.
PAGE 2 (4 PANELS)
PANEL 1: With arms outstretched for balance and one leg kicked outwards, a young boy skips down the ledge of an apartment building, several stories above the street below. He’s dressed in a store-bought superman t-shirt and wears a red towel tied around his neck. A heated argument can be heard coming from the window of his apartment one story below.
BOY:
I’M SUPER…
MAN (O.P.):
When ur you gunna quit nagging me about that?! Sometimes I just wanna put my fist—
WOMAN (O.P.):
How can I trust you with our money when you blow half of your paycheck at the tavern every weekend?!
PANEL 2: CLOSE-UP on the boy. He overhears the skirmish and is troubled by the tone of the quarrel. He stops playing.
BOY:
…man.
PANEL 3: Walking backwards away from the escalating argument, the boy steps back towards the corner of the roof, just inches from the edge.
MAN (O.P.):
I tell you I’ve had enough. You and that kid of yours are drivin’ me absolutely crazzy!
PANEL 4: Not realizing where he is, the boy takes a miss step and begins to fall backwards from the ledge. With arms flailing he begins to drop towards the pavement below. Beginning to panic, he squeaks out a feeble cry past the lump in his throat.
BOY:
Help…
PAGE 3 (6 PANELS)
PANEL 1: Just at the nick of time Superman SWOOPS up and grabs the boy, saving him from an undoubtedly fatal plunge.
PANEL 2: Superman places the boy back on the ledge. The boy is stunned to see his hero hovering in front of him. With arms folded, Superman gives his standard safety speech.
SUPERMAN:
You should be more careful. Ledges are no place to be playing. What’s your name?
PANEL 3: Smiling, the boy regains his composure. The argument heats up inside the apartment.
BOY:
My name is Kevin. I can’t believe Superman… is here!
WOMAN (O.P.):
That’s fine, then go! Just get out of here!!
PANEL 4: With a stern look, Superman glances down at the window.
SUPERMAN:
Everything all right at home Kevin?
PANEL 5: Kevin puts on a brave face.
KEVIN:
Yeah, sometimes my mother and her boyfriend fight.
MAN (O.P.):
Why should I leave? I pay the damn rent in this place. You two should go!
PANEL 6: CLOSE-UP on Superman’s ear.
MALE VOICE:
Ignition in t-minus 10… 9…
PAGE 4 (4 PANELS)
PANEL 1: Sensing his attention may be needed elsewhere Superman says his farewell. The boy is saddened by the goodbye.
SUPERMAN:
I have to get going son. Promise me you’ll be more careful, and if you or your mom ever need me. Just call my name.
PANEL 2: Kevin waves excitedly as Superman heads towards Lexcorp Tower in a BLUR of blue and red.
KEVIN:
You’re my HERO Superman!!
PANEL 3: Metropolis BLURS behind Superman as he SOARS through the air. He is apprehensive.

PILOT:
3… 2…
PAGE 5 (7 panels)

PANEL 2: A Lexcorp helicopter pulls up along side Superman to watch the show. Lex Luther sits comfortably at the rear of the craft. He smiles boldly. Lexcorp 1 SOARS towards the stratosphere.
PANEL 3: With arms folded, Superman glowers at Lex.
PANEL 4: Under great stress, a hairline crack begins to form on Lexcorp 1’s left wing.
PANEL 5: CLOSE-UP on Lex. He mouths a few words.
LUTHER:
I know you can hear me over there spandex. I want Lexcorp to be the first civilian company on the moon. Why should astronauts and aliens be the only ones having all the fun?
PANEL 6: In a tremendous ball of fire and smoke, the left wing of Lexcorp 1 RIPS from the fuselage.
SFX:
KRAKBOOM
PANEL 7: Superman STREAKS through the air, up and over Lexcorp Tower, heading towards the failing spacecraft.
PAGE 6 (5 PANELS)

PANEL 3: Straining from the g-forces, the pilot brasses for a massive impact.
PANEL 4: Pushing up a long wake behind him, Superman SKIMS over the seawater, holding Lexcorp 1 above his head.
KEVIN:
Help me Superman…

DISHEVELED MAN:
It’s yur fault. Hee thought he was you! He jumpbed off that roof sinking he was u!
PANEL 6: The Disheveled Man stands inches from Superman’s nose spitting words into his face. Superman looks down giving this guy a look that says; “I want to tear your arms from your body!”

PANEL 4: In a FLASH, Superman has grabbed Luther by the collar, clutching him several inches above the floor. Luther smirks.
SUPERMAN:

LUTHER:
What’s the matter Superman? Maybe you just weren’t fast enough. Forget to eat your spinach today?
PANEL 5: Lex Luther stands defiant atop a large spire of the Metropolis Bridge. Superman flies away, never looking back. Thousands of lights burn across Metropolis, illuminating the evening sky.
