Does anyone know what fonts were used in Futurama. I thought I recognized a few they used in the background, but the main fonts that they use in their titles (not the alien font) were they made in-house or were they from some font factory?

Also would you guys mind identifying the font used in this ad from National Geographic?

Thanks

try trimming that image down to just the text and uploading it to:

http://www.whatthefont.com

That will figure it out for you in less than 5 minutes.

Looks like Helvetica to me, but I dunno for sure.

"Be A National Geographic Photographer" and "Close Study" look like Officina Sans Bold.

Thanks Darren, it is indeed Officina. Wish I had your eye (maybe someday) for fonts.

No problem. Two things I did: Pick out a couple 'favorite' fonts... your workhorses. You'll start to notice all the little things about them. Pay attention to all of your favorite visual things, and try to identify the fonts they're using (and why). Also, the first design book I ever bought in college had a bunch of book covers, posters, CD covers, and logos. Each one listed all the fonts used, and had comments from the designer about their process for each piece. So I would find pieces I liked and use that to ID the fonts, and later on incorporate them into stuff I did.

Here's the link to this particular book:
