Okay, here's my first attempt at inking someone else fully digitally, in Adobe Illustrator.

Good stuff. I've got this page myself, but I've put off inking it because I'm not sure which tool I should use. I ink in Illustrator, too. What tool did you use to get this loose feel that Romita Jr's pencils need?

Thanks!

I made a set of custom brushes, based on the "tapered" ones from the default "Artistic Ink" library. I made a bunch of different sizes that I could switch between easily, and used the fatest one (45%, pictured) to scribble in most of the black areas. For the straight lines I created a set of non-tapered, different sized brushes to use with the Pen tool.

Here's what my brush library looks like:

I've had my tablet for about a year, and I've done a lot of free drawing and tracing photos to try and get used to the different eye/hand coordination that's necessary to use it. I'm still a bit clumsy with it, but I try to use broad, natural strokes, and correct later if necessary.

Thanks man. I've tried to use the pencil tool set to fill with no outline but I think your way might work better.
