View Full Version : Color-correcting comic scans?

My Google-fu has failed me. Anyone know how to "color-correct" older (newsprint, four color) comics so the whites look white? Even without the yellowing from age the whites aren't white.

Hmmm, "replace color" seems to be what I want, but it wants to replace non-white colors, and is particularly deleterious to flesh tones. Short of playing the selection game, how can I resolve that? Is there a way to use a bigger sample for "replace color" so it won't replace flesh tones?

Many ways to approach this.
Select/Color Range, then use the eyedropper to select the color you want to clean up. You might have to mess around with the level on it. The go to curves, or lightness/darkness.
There four ways to do any one thing in photoshop, but this will probably do what you want.

Thanks. I ended up using the magic wand to select just the white areas, but I need to play with everything for a while to see if I can come up with something faster/automated.
