Figured I'd try my hand at inking something from pencils, and then go and color it. I havent colored it yet, just inked it last night. But here is the results. Also when I threw it into photoshop I couldn't figure out how to properly remove the blue lines(in the end channel select, select inverse, black fill) so it may look a little rough(in opinion).

it looks like if you have only darken the penclis and add a little bit here and there. This pic needs more linevariation. IMO - this pic is dead. sorry if i sound harsh, but you also forgott some fields to ink etc....

If there is one person here you'll never have to worry about giving a hard crit to, that'd be me. I gratefully except any crit.
And thanks for your opinion, I can see what your saying now. I'll work on it.

I agree that the inks could use some more polish, but it looks not bad now. Some fine tuning is all.
As for ridding yourself of the blueline, I usually do it as so. Seperate image to cmyk. Take the contrast on the three colour levels (c,m,y) down to their lowest setting, essentially deleting them. Remerge the image and, voila, nothing but blacks. Works like a charm and takes about a minute. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the input, and I'll try your method for getting rid of blueline next time, took me forever just to do it the way I did >.>;
Oh, and on a side note, I used a double ended Sharpie to ink this. Fine Point, and Really Fine Point ended. Man did that marker smell *holds nose*

No, no no no, you dont use sharpie markers to finish a pencil drawing. :confused: You use nice technical pens like a rapidograph, rapidoliner, pigma micron pen or a staedtler pigma liner. These help get that nice professional inked look. Ha ha! :laugh: Now go buy yourself a Gary Martin How to ink book.

ps just messing with ya! keep practicing with hunt 102 nibs and brushes, quick somebody name a few before this poor kid starts inking with his toes or worse yet with a computer! :confused:

Hehe, I think you got your point across. Normally I do use Micron pens, but my last one ran out of ink not long ago x.x... and I don't have the money to get a new one just yet. Don't worry, I won't start inking with my toes... >.>;;;...

What I would recommend, since you're just starting out and you've used Microns before, is to concentrate on laying down smooth lines. Once you've got that, add lineweight as you go and focus on the depth of the image and you'll end up with a good ink :)
