Jude lounges in the driver’s seat, watching the road ahead.
JUDE: Don’t know. Maybe an hour and a half, two.

Blinking, Lauren looks around then through the windshield ahead at:

LAUREN: I changed my mind. Where are we going?
JUDE: …Nevada. I cut through a pass here.

Lauren swallows, takes in the state of her stained, dirt-layered clothes.
LAUREN: Look. I’m sorry about what I said earlier. It pays not to talk too much, you know?

JUDE (nodding): Yeah, I understand. Didn’t mean to pry. I’m just one of those guys that likes to know.

LAUREN: What brought you to California?
JUDE: What else? Job opportunity, new experience, good weather. Why does anyone else?
LAUREN (finally smiling slightly): So what happened? Didn’t work?

Jude falls silent for a moment and concentrates on the road ahead. He swallows, his face unreadable.
