Page and panel desciptions - help?

Question for y'all:

When writing a panel description, what are the types of "shots" that are used to describe the shape of the panel, the size, the position on the page, etc.

I mean, can I write

Panel 1: a large square panel, George is standing still.


Does that work, or is there a proper (ie professional) way to write that?

I've read from a few comic writing guides that, unlike screenplays, comic scripts don't have a set "professional" form. Guess that means you can write your shot descriptions however you want, as long as it gets the point across.

I usually just use terms like WIDE SHOT, MEDIUM SHOT or CLOSE UP. Sometimes I'll draw up a panel layout if I need it to be really specific, but I usually leave that up to the artist.

yeah, I use a lot of script writing terms like havok does.
med. shot ots(over the shoulder)
I only use these when I have a specific look I want, otherwise I let the artist have his fun.
