I’ve posted these pages all over but I’ve gotten over it. I’ve gotten a lot of advice on how to improve and how to continue moving forward. Up until now I’ve never taken a real art class and I plain on doing so soon. At the same time I figure I can post stuff here as I continue to learn and grow. And use this site and your advise to make the transition from wed comic creator to maybe breaking in the comic business and do what I really like to do… which is make a living working on comic.

I can’t wait to here what you guys have to say. Just let me say that I know I need to work on anatomy and constancy. I know I need someone to better proofread my stuff. I know that I need to stop coloring for a while because I rely too muck on Photoshop to make my work look good. I’m currently doing a lot of reading and research, even on things I don’t think I needed to.

Later…

If you interested on finding out more about me or see more of my stuff…

Well. The art and the writing needs some work. But your sequential story telling is pretty good.

It's refreshing to see a boxing a comic.

Good Luck man

Keep at it.

What he said. That art class should help. Try drawing from life. A bowl of fruit, still life kind of stuff.

Drawing in an anime/manga vein is fine when it's a stylistic choice, but it shouldn't serve as your only artistic option. Here, the Japanese influence feels like a shortcut covering for a lack of technical knowledge.

Here is an obvious example: on these characters, there is a constant presence of six-pack abs that seem "painted on." The muscles never stretch, contract, or move in accordance to the characters. Sometimes muscles fold over, the expand, they lose definition. They don't look perfectly delineated at all times.

Also, if you want to create a title that revolves around boxers and boxing -- the characters should appear to grasp the fundamentals of the sport. Frank's stance, the way he follows through, his extension, his body positioning: it all looks like he's never sparred in a gym in his life. He holds his hands in an awkward position, and it looks like kangaroo throwing a stiff-arm as opposed to a trained boxer throwing an actual punch.

There are only five basic punches you need to learn to draw for a boxing match: jab, straight, cross, hook, and uppercut. Anything else looks very out of place.

Good luck. Draw from life. Try to move away from borrowing the conventions of manga. Keep improving.

Cheers.

Sorry I never got an e-mail saying there was reply.

I working and work to make the artwork better and the fact you guys look at and say fix it. Instead of just give up really makes me feel good. Also I like the fact no one is turned off by boxing. Yes it's a niche and no company will be interested in picking it up but that’s why I’m working on a way to self publish.

Sorry I don't check sooner thanks and I am listening to all the things your saying. When I do redo the pages I’ll make sure to put it up here.
