I dont feel qualified in general to crit you Lebaeu, mainly cause you beat me out on that Brett Boothe thing. BUT,,,i guess if i were to crit anything on this one i would say that i dont like the right knee area of this character where the grass seems to blend in with his leg. Maybe i am reading it wrong though.

Hey Vandal,

Looking at it from that perspective, I can see why u would comment on the placement of his knee and the grass. I knew that the colorist would mute the tones surrounding Spirit, and this is why I also inked the foilage with a different line weight than the knee, to differentiate it a bit.

What became a bit more trickier was the other knee, as opposed to the grass there, simply because the lines on his pants are close to the grass itself. Perhaps I could have eliminated a bit more of the wrinkles from his pants there, to help separate it a bit more from the grass emanating from the bottom of the tree.

If it is any consolation: this was the most detailed of the pages I inked, and it took me 12 hours straight, with nothing but pot after pot of Starbuck's Columbia blend 2 keep me going. :)

And the Brett Booth gig? Man, don't sweat that. ;) I was very fortunate to have inked him and l did lobby hard for that job.

Inker supreme,
glad to see that your back around and working again! Your inks look fantastic as always. The lineweight used works very well....my one crit, one that Ive mentioned to ya when you've showed me samples in the past at megacon - your feathering. Your lines don't blend in smoothly to your black areas. And since there are alot of black in this page its inportant to do that and not rely on the colorist. There im off my soap box. Page and your inks look incredible as always...just my two cents!

Wow!

Talk about a blast from the past! :D

Austin is one of the very few people whose work I HEAVILY admire and he also influenced me waaay back in the day, during the Crossgen/Megacon heyday.

How u been, Austin??? Drop me a PM, man: let's catch up sometime. ;)

Yeah, I can see where u are coming from. Perhaps it was the 12 hour bender, but that is no excuse. Consistent feathering is something I STILL struggle with 2 this day (nods to G. Perez& N. Adams 4 d advice yearz ago).

Still, it is VERY much noted. I guess u'll have more to judge from, in my next upcoming work (hint, hint)! :)
