I've personally always felt that it's easier to judge inks when they're reduced to nearer the printed size. That way they look tighter. With that in mind I don't think Dark Horse gave you much to work with here. The pencils are pretty tight as is, which I don't feel gives an inker a chance to shine. That said, from what I can see you could do with a bit more variance in your line weights - lighter nearer the light source, heavier where there is shadow.

Regarding the colours, I'm not particularly impressed. They seem pretty sloppy in some places, and very over-saturated in others. The lighting is done pretty well, but that's all I can really appreciate from the colours.

I hope this doesn't come across as a negative critique, because I'm not intending to slap you down. Everything must be viewed as a positive learning experience.

Thanks for the input DIS. I meant to put this in the artist showcase LOL oh well, it was 4 am when i posted this and i naturally come to the inker forum lol. Anyways, This was one of the first pieces I ever inked and i agree with you totally on the lineweights and so forth. I did this probably about 2 yrs ago and feeli have gotten better since then. I just posted since it got colored, so thanks again for your input, check out some of my newer stuff when I post em and let me know what ya think!

I like it. Looks pretty spruce. I agree that the colors could use a little work, but overall it's well done.

But...

I'm REALLY confused as to what is going on. Is it meant to be taken as a whole? Or is it separate images combined for a sample?

Daweir- It was sent to me from darkhorse as a page to ink to submit as a sample for submission. this is an actual page from a book, what book that is I have no clue and i agree, the images don't seem to follow to well, but it's one page and they are actually flow this way in the book.
