Alright, Father's day is coming soon, and I'm trying to find the perfect gift for my dad. For Christmas I got him a copy of a comic he always wanted as a kid, and when he finally had the money for it, it had been sold and he hadn't found it since. Well, when he opened the box on Christmas and saw it, he was like a kid again. And I want to do that again. The opportunity has presented itself in a conversation we had in (I think) mid-January about comics we were mad that had been cancelled or hadn't taken off, and he mentioned one he loved but didn't have any issues of.
The comic: The way he described it, it is a Silver Age comic in the vein of Dial H for Hero. It is about a group of kids who go into this cave and discover a bunch of robots. The find that the can transfer their consciousness into the robots' bodies. They use the robots to fight crime and do whatever it is that kids in robots bodies do.
Now, if anyone can give me the title of the comic, or if it was in something like Showcase then the issue number, I will be so very grateful. Thanks.

So nobody has any idea what I'm looking for? That sucks. :(

You don't provide a lot of clues, really. Do you know the publisher, by any chance?

Yeah, I know I don't, but that's really all I've got. I know my only hope is to find a person who has read the particular comic I'm thinking of. So I knew it was a needle-in-a-haystack type thing, but I'm hoping. And I'm thinking it may be DC, but someone I talked to said it may be Gold Key, so I'm not sure. If I knew more, I would definintely tell you. I really want to find this.

Yeah, the premise sounds very Gold Key ...

I hate to tell you this but...after you went through the trouble of getting your father that other comic he realized you would jump like a little monkey at his whim and that made him lose respect for you. Now he just made up some silly comic for you to waste your time looking for, just to have some fun with you. It's all a joke. That comic doesn't even exist. The best thing you can do in this situation is walk up to your dad and hit him square in the jaw.

And if that doesn't work, ask Mr. Silverback!

Thanks Angel. :)
Why don't you ask Mr. Silverage?

I know that nobody probably cares, but I actually found what I was looking for today (took me long enough, dammit! :man: ). It was a comic published by Dell Comics in the late 60's called The Fab Four: http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/f/fabfour.htm
Yay! Me and my older brother are going to be getting my dad the entire 4 issue series for Christmas. It might be one of the corniest comics ever made, but he really wanted it back in the day.
Just an update.

That's pretty cool actually. What "broke the case wide open" for you?

Random article on Wikipedia actually. I like to click through the "random article" link. It gave me "Silver Age of Comic Books". In it, it mentions Dell Comics. The Silver Age thing made me start thinking about the comic, and I knew it wasn't one of the other companies that made it. So I started researching the Dell Books. Sure enough, one they mention, "Fab Four" was it! So, I searched eBay shops, found all four issues for $40, $45 with shipping. So me and my older bro are going half and half on it. I just ordered it tonight to be shipped to his house. I really think this might be one of the best gifts we've got him, since he is EXTREMELY hard to shop for.

I read through the old posts, I'm happy you were able to find it for your father. The price isn't as bad as I thought it would be either, I'm certain he'll love the comics.

Man, I hope so. I saw pics of them on the internet, and they look to be in pretty good condition. Not mint or anything, but still pretty good.

Chances are the Old Man will love 'em no matter what condition they're in. If not, you can always do that "punch in the jaw" thing.
