Hey,
Yeah, haven't posted on here in an age, been busy.
Well, i got all mixed up, i actually meant the fanexpo thing in august and as it turns out i wont be doing that anyways, i booked up for heroescon instead. I'll be back up in canada (montreal) one day to see everyone and hang out with my friends.
How's it going by the way, got any comc work on?
Kris.
Hey Kris! Good to see you on the boards.
Which con in Toronto were you thinking you may attend; the Paradise Comics (http://www.torontocomicon.com/) show , or the Hobbystar (http://www.hobbystar.com/hobbystar/Conventions.html) one?
I usually only see Yanick and Clement at the big Hobbystar show in August, so maybe that's it.

Direct Energy Centre @ Exhibition Place, Hall C

2007 will be the 5th year of the Annual Paradise Comicon in Toronto and the 15th year of operations for Paradise Conventions in the Toronto area (formerly known as ParaCon and Tempest Promotions).
The Paradise Comicon is Toronto’s largest convention that focuses ONLY on all types of comic books and sequential art. Both in square footage and in attendance. We are also proud to support the Beguiling's Toronto Comic Arts Festival, which will take place August 18-19, 2007. www.torontocomics.com
Unlike most comic book conventions we keep the majority of the attention on comic books and graphic novels by developing programming around content and creators of all types - mainstream to the fiercely independant.
Over the last four+ years we have created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where people can enjoy themselves, network and talk about comics. Comicon guests are accessible for the duration of the show and this allows fans a lot of interaction time. Panels and workshop programming are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. There are rarely scheduled signing times, so attendees do not have to spend their time standing around in long line-ups. We have also been very successful in attracting serious comic book collectors.
We are also the home of:
The Women of Comics II Symposium http://www.womenofcomics.com
The Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creator Awards http://www.joeshusterawards.com

Hope that information I listed above is helpful and clarifies which convention Raff was talking about. We've come a long way from that first show back in November 2003, and the show is housed in Hall C of the Direct Energy Centre (formerly known as the National Trade Centre). The Direct Energy Centre is a relatively new and state-of-the-art convention and conference facility located on the historic Exhibition grounds in Toronto.
Last year's attendance was just shy of 6,000 comic book fans, we're expecting the same or more in 2007. Unlike the other show that has been mentioned earlier in this thread from another promoter, the Paradise Comicon is all about comics. That is, we don't ghetto-ize or compartmentalize comics in with other fan genres. We concentrate on comic books, manga, graphic novels, original art and some related animation and film. That being said there will be some crossover items (toys, magazines, models, statues, art books, videos, posters, etc.) available in our dealer area, which takes up roughly 2/3 of our 60,000 square foot hall.
If you go to shows to stand hours on end in lines, then we're probably not the show for you. If you want to meet professionals, get sketches and autographs, learn about current and upcoming projects or just go back issue hunting, then we think you will enjoy yourself at the Paradise Comicon. Many attendees have compared our event to other comics only shows like HEROES CON and the BALTIMORE COMICON.
We've also got a one-day event coming up on March 25th at the Holiday Inn on King (11AM-5PM). Admission $5 - Details can be found here: http://torontocomicon.com/story.asp?storyID=80

Kevin Boyd
