Hi, guys,
some of you may remember this old comic I did way back in 2003 called Silversparrow.
A couple months ago I took it down from my site because looking back, well, the art looked really rushed (especially the background work).
Well, I´ve managed to get some time on my hands and decided to give those old pages a tweak, let me know what you think :)

Beautiful work, as always Eliseu, but haven't we seen it on the board here before? Looks familiar to me.

Heya there, guys, thanks for your comments :)

midknight - Thanks :)

Rotin - Gracias for spotting that one, I´ve just corrected it :)

Paul Sanderson - Hey there, stranger, long time no see ;) Yeah, these are from my 2003 comic, I am revamping it, giving the pages a tweak or two.. you know the drill, looking under the hood, changing the oil.... You can compare them with the previous version on the links of the first post :)

Paul Sanderson
11-09-2005, 11:23 PM
2003 or 1993? You said 93 in your first post, which is what confused me, cos I certainly didn't see these pages way back then :D

Eliseu Gouveia
11-09-2005, 11:33 PM
Ooops!

Sorry about that, my bad.
It´s a 2003 story, I´ll correct the 1st post right away :)

PS: I liked the older look on the grandmother looking lady. So there's that.

I would consider re-doing the lettering in a different font. The current one is distracting and not up to the level of the art.

Eliseu Gouveia
11-17-2005, 11:18 PM
Heya, JL, LTNS :)

Yeah, I had to rejuvenate Aunt Jackie, upon reading the story again, for consistency´s sake.

Roel, you are SO right.
Folks always complain about my lettering and I´m the first to agree that it sucks.
That goes into things to do in my next life.... :D

Zeu excellent concept. I hope that Infiniteens does well enough that someday we might see Silversparrow. (Although I'd be VERY grateful if it were Silver Sparrow instead -- much less clumsy IMO...)

jl1
11-18-2005, 12:30 PM
Is that a new pages in the Sparrow saga? I'm not sure I remember it from the first time around. Either way it's pretty cool. A little dark color wise, but pretty cool. :kewl:

Eliseu Gouveia
11-18-2005, 10:24 PM
GRAFFILTHY -Thanks, man :)

samy -Thanks, Samy. You know, lots of folks have been telling me for a while now that it should be Silver Sparrow instead of Silversparrow. To tell the truth, I can´t tell the difference (I prefer Infiniteens to Infini Teens since it plays with the word Infinity*). It´s probably one of those nuances you only get when english is your first langiuage.

jl1 - Aloha, JL. Yup, brand new page, you´ve got a good eye. The initial Soaring chapter had only 14 pages, in contrast with Broken Wing´s 22 and Skygirl´s 12, so I´m doing patches here and there to bring some consistency to it all (plus rejuvenating the old hag, adding more background to the superhero world, Major Evil and lil´Jessie girl).

* The true tragedy of this page is that when the PsiGirls on pannels #3 start naming the inbound reserves, I had one of them be a team called Eterniteens :har: . A quick google search revealed that that name had already been taken.
Same goes for Decibelle, Starvox, Wintermare, Gamma Girl and Warfly.
Damn!

nams

Very cool as Allways! You are planning on publisching these pages?

I ordered Infiniteens But I was just wandering if there is going to be a TPB version of the book?

Be cool!

Eliseu Gouveia
11-18-2005, 10:59 PM
Heya, Nams, LTNS, where have you been? (Aveiro, duh! ) :sure:

Nope, no plans for publishing these, it´s just me venting off after a day´s work (I draw comics to relax after a day drawing comics.... God, I´m hopeless.....)

About the TPB thing, I have to confess I have no idea.

I think Infiniteens works as it is. The reason for it is that it is actually merging the two words. It's not "Infinity Teens", it is actually merging the words by a few letters, which is why it works together. If Silversparrow was "Silverrow", that'd work together too (although it'd sound incomprehensible). But if you have the two words whole, intact -- then put a space between them. "Infinity Teens" or "Infiniteens". "Silver Sparrow" or "Silverparrow". But not "Infinityteens" or "Silversparrow" or "Infini Teens" or "Silver Parrow".

At least that's how it sounds to my ear. :)

This is beautiful stuff, man. Beautiful.

If you ever need a writer, please let me know. I can't draw to save my my own sphincter, but I've been known to put together some butt puckering good superhero stories in my time.

Props.

Man... this is the kind of stuff you do in your spare time!? If you ever have any more spare time, you can do a Night Star story for me, E.

Seriously, these pages are as beautiful as all of your other work. My only complaint is that your sound effect should be KRA-KA-THOOM instead of KRA-KA-THOM. C'mon, man. Get it together! :har:

samy - Thanks, Samy, I guess you do have a point :)

Mister Wizard - Thanks, Mister Wizard, I do collaborate with writers all the time and they´re usually quite nice people to work with.

mikeexner3 - Thanks, Mike, yeah, Silversparrow is how I let it rip at the end of the day. Not this week, though. This week, my niece had the brilliant idea of bringing home...... a rubik cube. Needless to say watching DVDs in my spare time or drawing Jessie gal here suddenly had to take a backseat until I figured out that %$&% thingie.

nams - Obrigado, meu, isto da BD um gajo só se mete mesmo por carolice. :p

ariel - Hey, Ariel, thanks for the heads up on that head thing, you have a good eye.
Can I ask you a favour, though?
Re-posting pages I´ve uploaded kinda breaks the pacing; in the future, just pointing out the number of the page or a general description of it is enough for me :)

OZ! - Thanks, OZ!

Well, it´s been an unbelievable week where pretty much everything happened, but fortunatelly, I managed to find the time to cook out one more page, hope you like it :)

compton - Heya,Compton, thanks. Actually, last time I did the whole 3 chapters of Silversparrow, beginning, middle and end. :)

thecarrierone - Thanks, thecarrierone, you make a pertinent point, I definitelly need to tinker them highlights a bit.

More solid pages. Again, I think things are still getting better as you go. There aren't a lot of artists around who can do really good black and white work like you are. Keep crankin'.

How do you thank an artist, whose work influences and inspires you? I've collected every page of Silversparrow, and I eagerly await more. The fact that this creator generously posts it all for free on the Web, just blows my mind. Which is why I'm also scouring the Web, for any other work he's done.

Many people here have commented about Zeu's speed and skill. For me, that's just icing on the cake. The story's what drives every comic; the art, however fantastic- and this is- is just a tool to drive the story. This particular story has me riveted, like no comic has in a long while. I can't wait to find out what happens next to sweet, no longer so innocent, Jessie.

I don't want to gush on. I just wanted Zeu to know that there's one fan out there, who's very appreciative of his work.

Hi, guys,

thank you for your posts and your comments, I really appreciate them.

paradox - Thanks, Para :)

Thundergut -I thank you for your post and your kind words, Thundergut, folks do comment the art but not many really take the time to read the story so I can´t tell you how happy I am to find someone who does.

AgentFire - Thanks, AgentFire. Unfortunatelly, Infiniteens is presently on hold as I haven´t received word from FC9 in almost a year now. :(

MisterMaxx -thank you, MisterMaxx. Out here, Zeu is pronounced "Zeh-oo" :)
I´m glad you´ve liked my stuff. As for Marvel and DC, in all honesty, that´s a dream I stopped feeding five thousand submission packages ago.

Frogsaki - Thanks, Joe, me and my Muse are honored to have you onboard and I really hope you continue enjoying my work.

I´m really sorry for being away for so long.
My mother had to undergo a delicate surgery recently and the whole affair drained more of my mental resources than expected which is why I am only now revisiting our lil´Jessie gal.

Thirdly...why the heck hasn't Marvel or DC snapped you up yet?

Cause Marvel/DC are stupid, that's why.

I really think independant creators need to just come together and publish their own stuff. Waiting for the big boys to notice great talent is a waste of time IMO. I've seen so many talented guys just give up drawing and everything because they kept getting rejection letters. Its a bloody shame.

Awesome work Eliseu, simply awesome. I like the classic feel of it all.
