I used to play alot of video games back in the day. I still like to revisit, but I have either lost the disks, or the game was on my Amiga.
I found a great site methinks.

Some one did an AWESOME job on bringing Maniac Mansion back to life. I strongly suggest that one! :w00t:

Until I can find my cd of "Sam and Max hit the road" (the one with the voice overs) I will never be truly satisfied (game wise).
Okay, not true, but man, I'm so pissed I lost it!

A lot of good games there. One that still surprises me is "Heroes of Might and Magic". All that ever was was a port of the old genesis game "Kings Bounty", made even, by the same company. Just slap a new name on it though, and suddenly it was popular enough to warrant a sequel...

You can still buy it Here (http://www.lucasarts.com/companystore/adventure/) for $29.95
It comes with three games in the box.
Classic games! Exclusive CD caddy! An incredible compilation package featuring Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (1993), Maniac Mansion II: Day of the Tentacle (1995), and Sam & Max Hit the Road (1995). Now available in this exclusive LucasArts CD caddy big enough to hold up to 12 of your favorite LucasArts games!
I bought this a few years back. It was really fun to beat all of those games again.

Like I said in that other thread a few weeks ago, they must have been pretty far along with the game when they announced it's cancellation. I hope they pick it back up and finish it!

It would just need a new developer, because Lucasarts as a developer is no more.

I would guess this came directly from Lucas. Maybe he has his own plans, or just wants all focus on Star Wars until ROTS comes and goes.

I found a program call ScummVM that enhances these old games, you can dowload mp3's for the sound files, and update the graphics. It seems to work well with all of the LucasArts games. It takes a while to get it all programmed, but it's really neat to see these games look nice.

For those who care, I have been hacking away for about 10 hours now, I have fully updated Loom, Maniac Mansion, and Zak McKracken.
Loom has turned out the best, I got it up to 256 colors, full Mp3 audio, and I also got ahold of the very rare, talkie file. So, now the characters talk just like the Sam & Max game.
Zak is coming along quite well too, but it's not 100% done yet.

Which games?
For the LucasArts games you need a program called ScummVm, for the other games like SpaceQuest you need an emulator.
I've got several emulators as I still prefer old games over the new ones.
What happens when you try them?

I was thinking about zombies today and why I came to love them so much. Granted, zombies are played out, but I like to think that I'm a zombie hipster, and I loved them before they were cool.
I remember loving zombie movies and comic books as a kid, but the earliest memory I have of zombies was a video game I played on my Amiga 500.
I couldn't remember the name of the game, but with a little googling of what I could remember I found the game today.
It's called "Zombi" by Ubisoft in 1986. I thought that was neat because Ubisoft just released ZombiU for the Wii-U. I'm betting they have nothing in common.
Here's what Wiki had to say:
Zombi is an icon-driven arcade adventure video game. It was Ubisoft's first publication, released when the company was established in 1986.
A first-person arcade adventure, it draws inspiration from the George A. Romero film Dawn of the Dead; the player controlling four protagonists exploring a zombie-filled shopping mall. It draws from many parts of the film, including the gun-shops, the escalators, and the articulated trucks used to block the entrances. If a character's health is depleted, he turns into a zombie, which then roams the room they died in. Zombies can be killed either by numerous body shots, or a single shot to the head. Characters were named after the creators of the game.
Development
The original Amstrad CPC version was programmed by Yannick Cadin and S.L. Coemelck, with graphics by Patrick Daher and music by Philippe Marchiset.
It was re-released in 1990, with ports developed for the ZX Spectrum (by Geoff Phillips, Colin Jones and Steve Chance), Commodore 64 (Jean Noel Moyne, Laurent Poujoulat, Jean Francois Auroux[2]), Amiga (Alexander Yarmitsky), Atari ST and DOS.
[edit]Reception
The ZX Spectrum version was awarded 87% by Sinclair User magazine and 77% byYour Sinclair, both reviewers were impressed with the immersive atmosphere.
CU Amiga awarded the Amiga version of the game 85%, whilst German magazine Amiga Joker scored it at 69%.
Zzap!64 awarded the Commodore 64 version of the game 72%. The reviewer said that the gameplay is outdated and is very similar to Catch 23, a 1987 ZX Spectrum game.
