As writers we're all working on some project or another on any given day. We start some, we move to different ones. Constantly pitching to ourselves and praying the perfect collaborator comes along. Occasionally a pissing contest occurs on the forums and people start to feel inferior & superior. Here's your chance though to let others know what you're working on and what you hope to do with it. We're all struggling and that makes us equals. Nobody is above anybody else so let's have some fun.

Consider it a bragging post for the writers on the writers forum. Don't be ashamed to talk about what you're currently working on and what you plan to do with it. Take a few minutes and pimp your work. I know everybody is working on something, hell several things. Let's hear what you're all up to.

Awesome. What genre are your upcoming novels?

The Signal is mystery with a sci fi twist.
Rancid is mystery with horror.

I'm working on 12 3-panel comics for Jason Moser and his Ellium universe. Feel free to visit the Ellium website (http://www.ellium.genomestudios.com/). Very interesting stuff. The moment I looked around it the first time, I knew I wanted to be apart of it. Not only is there an 'X-Files meets DaVinci Code directed by Hitchcock' feel to it, but there seems to be a lot of indie exuberace put into it. Not only that, but Jason's preferred format seems to be the OGN. You can get a 100+ page graphic novel for under $10.

And while I haven't posted here since I had to create a new screenname, I've been lurking. I know there has been a lot of bickering and confrontations, but I'm sure that if anyone's supposed 'antagonist' were to acheive success, we'd all be cheering. Life for a comic book writer is just plain too shitty for us not to be happy one of us makes it.

Pimp-mode off.

right now I'm putting together a screenplay
the title is up in the air right now, but basically it's about four people and how their lives are affected by each other when one screws around, is an asshole etc. etc. without all that glorified drama jude law bull$h!t a real tale about real people.

OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS: combines my contempt for super-hero comics and their nine-part max-mini 'pivotal' until the next arc crap, into a stand alone super-hero universe where we follow one guy ALAN through his daily trials and tribulations of trying to get noticed by the federally sponsored super-heroes. of course there are twists and turns and only like four pages of fight scenes in a 48-page book. but no damn talking heads.

MACHINE ELVES: is about the fabric of reality placed into a sci-fi setting...the less you know the better. it is on like the fiftieth re-write cause most artists (and sane people) have no idea what the hell i am writing about.

LOVE STORY: a 100+ page graphic novel i am writing and illustrating. problem is i cannot draw, so i am teaching myself to draw with old, knackered copies of someone else's 'how to draw the marvel way' with steve buscema and pinning up photgraphs of things I would like to be able to draw all over the place (much to the chargrin of my girlfriend, cause i have like 14 pictures of a man slumped against an overflowing garbage bin trying to reach the top garbage bag...if i can draw that i can be the next FRANK MILLER).

that about sums it up, I have all types of other word files on here that i havent touched or looked at in oh...a year or so...but one of these days.

darkwriter
01-16-2005, 07:13 PM
The Lycan Bug: A graphic novel about werewolves. Involves viruses and mutations rather than the moon and curses.

Bowen: Story set in the middle ages about a Knight who is charged with finding a kidnap victim important to the king.

Behind The Door: Horror submission for You'll Never Be A Published ***** Writer.

Every now and then I'll do a short just for the fun of writing such as my No Dialogue? stories.

I know threads get bogged down and sometimes obliterated when people go off topic to give personal opinions when what we're really here for is to build our writing and critiquing skills, but let me start this post by doing just that: giving my personal opinion.

Sinobyte - I just want to pat you on the back for this. This is a great thread created with great intentions. Thank you. It's about time we all get back down to what we are here to do.

Enough of that.

I'm working on two projects:

BACKWARD DEVIL - Don't know whether this is going to be graphic novel or continuous series yet, so I'm just taking it one chapter/issue at a time. It's a psychological drama about the life of a vampire who doesn't want to be what he is. A self-proclaimed pacifist who's forced to kill innocent people to survive himself, his life goal has become to find and terminate the monster (Father) who made him what he is. After that goal is complete, he'll be able to end his life of suffering and making others suffer. The problem is, though, he doesn't know who his Father is or where he can be found.

and

THE DIVINE - A graphic of three people "chosen" by angels from on high to first find God who has been imprisoned for two thousand years, and then lead an army to defeat the Lowers (devils, demons) in an inevitable divine war. Sounds a bit contrived and unoriginal in a one-sentence-synopsis, but I think it has the makings of something quite unique. This is a future project, as I have come to understand the values of not just researching the material, but INTENSELY researching the material.

Thanks, Sin.

I'm not really here to brag, rather to share my admiration for everyone else's work, and talk a little about my own.

I'm currently writing an 8 issue comic series about a young girl, a robot, a phayrie, a mage, a semi-retired knight and a bunch of very, very pissed off dragons! I've scripted 2 issues and plotted 6. I just have no time to write.

I am also always tossing around ideas for another mini series that I want to write called The King of Adventure which is sort of inspired by Farscape, Sliders and Stargate AND will be semi-autobiographical.

Besides these projects, I am writing a fortnightly column about life as a comic book fan ... all the way out in Australia. The column is called "A View From Over The Edge" and is available at www.comicsnexus.com

I'm also preparing to pitch an idea for another column to a different website.

Got a story that's being submitted for DWP (cross fingers and say prayers, people)

A story that's supposed to be drawn, but I haven't talked to the artist in a good while.

And I'm heavily involved in the You'll Never Be a Published xxxxx Writer book as both a writer and even more as an editor.

I am working on the character design and long-term plotting phase of several aspects of a fictional universe. It features a whole bunch of completely unoriginal blatant ripoff characters in multiple teams/books that I hope to tell interesting stories with. (In the style of, say, Moore's SUPREME or Gruenwald's SQUADRON SUPREME.) I'm really excited about this project and proud of what I've knocked together so far. I've got all the obligatory Superman ripoffs, X-Men ripoffs, Power Man/Iron Fist ripoffs and I think I'm coming up with some pretty damn nice twists and flip-flops on the original concepts, and interesting places to take them.

My only real problem is that I don't have enough money to hire as many artists as my brain keeps coming up with concepts. :D

"Financial Aid". This is me and my gf's RSoM submission for Tokyopop.
"Way of the Fox". This is my on going series with Indie Gods.
"1883". This is a graphic novel series about the wild west/ post civil war south. It's still in the concept phase though.
I am trying to secure the rights to do a comic book sequel to "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai".

Can't give the name or any details, but I am part of a team that is creating a 16 page book for the Tokyo Pop rising stars contest. The better half of the team came up with the concept, is pencilling the pages and doing the tones and effects. She asked me to write the story including the panel layout, ink the pages and other minor duties. In addition to everything else she is doing she is also working up the prepress to make sure the submission looks outstanding.

Working on several small projects for the You Will Never be Published books. Writing, drawing, and inking.

Greyscaling a comic for Infinity Uprising and lettering another one for the same publisher.

Finishing up production for my project Wild and Wicked Witches of the Old West. It should be completed by the end of January and I will post at least one sequential page from the project; It is currently under consideration for inclusion in a well known publishers book.

Writing the script for Onyx Moon a four part series that can be likened to Battle Chasers/Batman/Aladdin and a little bit of Star Wars since it is about a young boys journey toward maturity in a fantastical land where a council of theocratic elders demand absolute obeisance from the worlds inhabitants.

And of course spending every possible moment dreaming and awake on coming up with new ideas.

Sincerely,
Marc L Horn

This is a good thread. Nice to see so many lurkers come out of the woodwork, and that includes me about 85% of the time. Anyway, for the curious:
Bronx Angel #0 is the first release from Proletariat Comics. It will be out on my site and via ComixPress as soon as the colorist finishes with it. It's planned to run for 6 issues, but I'm still writing Issue 4 right now.
Marc Horn is going to draw my "You'll Never Be..." softcore piece 'cause he likes the ladies as much as I do. That'll be up on my site as soon as he gets a chance to work on it.
I'm test-reading my friend Ken's first novel Random Acts.
Autumn in Georgia is a techno-thriller pitch that I put in to Platinum Studios last week. It's about an over-the-hill CIA Station Chief who finally gets his big break just as bad things happen.
I'm getting ready to start working on a piece for Equal Footing's Spring issue. That will probably be about Web-Comic profitability.
Finally, my wife is 8 months pregnant, and I just got a promotion at work, so that stuff keeps me busy as well. At work, I write about economic development within NYC as it affects electric load growth.

well i just got home after 2 months at sea, so while its kinda off topic it has been great to sleep in my very own bed again.

thanks Sinobyte, nice thread!

what i am working on...

a four part hitman story called The Kansas Hit. basically, a hitman from Kansas meets an ex stripper turned internet entrepenuer during the course of one of his jobs, and she ends up screwing up his entire life in the process. i have 3.5 of the 4 issues complete, so its almost there.

sins of the father: a werewolf story with a pretty pyscho type feel to it. based on characters created by my kid and one of his friends. started out as more of a lark than anything but the more i got into it the more i liked it. i have the first issue complete, now i just have to find someone to draw it. i would like to self pub this one as well as the Kansas hit, if time permits.

Thorgax, an ongoing fantasy genre story for Storrm (formerly Dynamos) Comics. lots of stops and starts but i think i have a grip on this one now. here hoping.

Totem: a creator owned title i am doing for Storrm Comics. 5 friends who discover ancient totems on a dig in Egypt, gain were-forms, and begin to uncover more about themselves than they might want to know.

48: another creator owned title for Storrm Comics. 22 clones escape and fight for freedom in a world where they are used for body parts. they have no rights for the first 4 years after being born, and so they must remain free and alive for 48 months until they are citizens under the law, while one of their own works against them.

and on top of the monthly comic writing i also work for Storrm Comics as an editor for their Fantasy division, and i write the Sunday column for Comic Avalanche. now i just have to find time to sleep, and life will be wonderful again.

E.V.E. (Eviornmental Virtual Establishment) this is the story I try to push the most but get least interest in :yuk: It's about a software programmer who goes AWOL and is forced to takes his creation into the underground. His program is banned and ends up being like a drug in some odd future...I posted a script of the first page or so here some year or two ago.

Religion/Fantasy Story: A story about 6 heroes who fight a demon and after killing it use it's bones to confect powerful weapons...yadda yadda yadda terrible stuff happenes, the heroes are imprisoned inside prisms and some years later are released.

Religion: Lilith and Luzbel wage war on the heavens...from the garden of eden to the end of humanity. YaY!! :D follow the exploits of Lilith as she populates the globe after being kicked from the garden of eden

Action/Mistery: A team of special forces disappears in the jungles of Brazil and a rescue party is sent out to investigate.

Horror: It's about a serial killer who likes to carve smiles on the faces of his victims

Mystery/Sci-Fi: A young detective searches for his missing father in a small mysterious comunity

Comedy: (now by no means am I a comedic writer but I just love to take the piss on cliche black metal bands:D ) as said: we join the band Slitheryn for their weekly rehearsel.
Lord Sad - dark organ
Baron Von Anal Lube - bass guitar/grunts
Mistress Despair - shrieks/T&A
Thumper - the out of place drummer

I have a question :) there was a guy here (sorry forgot his name) who was doing on story about this family who traveled in a mechanical whale ship, they were thought to be the last humans on earth or something like that...whatever happened to that dude??

Hey All
To date I've written much but posted nothing (not to mention the fact that I just joined your ranks just a few days ago.) However, I am working on a Trilogy - where I'm only a tenth of the way through book one. And I'm working on Three titles in the Graphic Novel Genre (Comic Books to me are Archie's and Ninja Turtles - and there's nothing funny in what I write. )
But it is my latest endeavor that I'm working on and wish to show to you all in hopes of getting some feed back. However, to date there's not even a working title for it. I'll keep you all posted.

As well as the other projects I have mentioned I have also started to plan my next graphic novel. MONSTERS (working title).

A cross between The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and the movie Van Helsing.

Van Helsing. Now a man in his early eighties, gathers together a group of unlikely heroes to battle the evil Nazis and stop them from summoning demons, and possibly the devil himself, in an effort to control the world.

These heroes come in the guise of

Dracula
The Wolf Man
Frankenstein's Creature
The Mummy
and The Invisible Man.

Like I said I have just started planning it so nothing concrete is written down yet.

2. An untitled deconstruction of teen superhero teams that I'm trying to turn into the American equivalent to Evangelion. It'll be a comic book, but I'm waiting until I'm capable enough to draw it myself.

I'm a newbie to the site, so I'm trying to get acquainted with the folks here. But here's a list of the stuff I'm working on:

1. Adapting a book I published called "Mallpocalypse Now" into a 12-issue mini-series. There's sample script over at my site, www.freetheseed.com.
2. Turning a short story about a world where people no longer die, following a tragic traveling accident experience by the Grim Reaper himself after picking up some souls at the North Pole following a blood bath. It's called "Zero at the Bone."
3. Working on a "novel" which is collection of news articles, company memos, religious documents, speech transcripts, etc.... entitled "A Servicable Villan," which follows the life of Marshall Field, a prankster, dryer lint smoker, and political leader. Several of these articles were published by Wide Awake Press (www.jchriscampbell.com).
4. Working on my humor and journalism site, Free the Seed, and writing for Fifthcircle.net, a blog.
5. Writing news articles, music features and CD reviews for the Weekly Dig, an alt-weekly in Boston.
6. Prepping other comics and looking for collaborators.

1-Scarlett's Curse - girl who becomes the Guardian - her mission is to fight Demons of the Human senses (in the first arc), until she realizes her Curse, which will force to keep fighting Demons (Demons of the Elements, etc, etc), until her Curse is broken.
2-The Inquisitor - The possibility to portray the Inquisition with magical elements, historical facts and a strong central character that personifies an era, creates a literary and entertaining combination sure to attract many readers who seek more from comics than conventional material. Middle Ages characters with magical powers will give us the possibility to create a “Universe” different from any other and so bounteous in its intellectual ambition that the comic can only be successful.
3-Deja-Vu Experiment -A scientist is hired by an U.S. Cooperation to develop and elaborate a way to extend the length of human life. After several failed experiments, he decides to have a more spiritual approach to the problem. Taking under consideration most of the world’s religion beliefs, he develops a “concrete hypothesis”.Once he makes these startling discoveries he presents his theory to the Corporation, as a result; they build a machine which is able to combine both elements of his theory, and break all barriers between Religion and Science.
4- Creating my domain @ www.praxisvisual.com, with published artist.

2005 is going well so far.

Secured the comic adaptations for the films "Shadows of the Dead" & "Lucker - The Necrophagous".

Slowly beginning work on a comic adaptation of horror novelist Brian Keene's Bram Stoker Award winning novel, "The Rising". There should be preview pics in the upcoming March issue of Rue Morgue Magazine in stores nationwide.

Deadhattan issues #0 & #1 are in the bag.

Clive Barkers Lost Souls Magazine #0 is almost finished along with it's handpainted variant cover.

Working on a prose chapbook entitled, Breviaries vol.1 featuring Gerard Houarner and Brian Keene as well as many more short story works from Indie Gods.

(Oh yeah!) We should be releasing our first CD on Indie Gods entitled, Soundtrack of the Blind Dead. A comic soundtrack performed by The Giallos Flame for the comic book, Sacrament of the Blind Dead.

Slowly but surely we're moving along. A snails pace is better than dead in the creative water so I'm happy.

Hello folks -

Though I've been registered for years, this is really my first balls to the wall press to get into this thing we call writing comic books, so I'm still all newbie there. Figured this was as good a way as any to get the ol' feet wet in the community and thanks to all of you out there doing the do for making the opportunity possible. And thanks in advance for the answers to all the inevitable questions - though I'll try to avoid the ones already answered elsewhere.

Anyway, brevity source of wit and all. Here's the projects.

Shadowdance: Welcome to the Dance - "vampire assassin Adriana struggles against the manipulations of two opposing mages to find answers about the ancestors she thought she had murdered a century ago, murders that drove her to a path of self-destructive revenge."; presently working with a business partner to turn what was a six issue series into a graphic novel; doing the "find an artist thing"

Adventures of the Secret Five - a comic for indie publisher Storrm; sci-fi superhero stuff by way of the dirty dozen - er, five; but funny; also working as an editor over there

Shadowdance: Black Ops - "for millenia, the forces of the supernatural have waged a secret war for control of humanity; a special ops team is formed to take that fight to the supernatural"; still scripting...

there's other stuff, but it's mostly at fetus level; but that's me so far...

thanks for the time

Bronx Angel #0 is the first release from Proletariat Comics. It will be out on my site and via ComixPress as soon as the colorist finishes with it. It's planned to run for 6 issues, but I'm still writing Issue 4 right now.
Marc Horn is going to draw my "You'll Never Be..." softcore piece 'cause he likes the ladies as much as I do. That'll be up on my site as soon as he gets a chance to work on it.
I'm getting ready to start working on a piece for Equal Footing's Spring issue. That will probably be about Web-Comic profitability.
Finally, my wife is 8 months pregnant, and I just got a promotion at work, so that stuff keeps me busy as well.

Just an update for the curious:
Bronx Angel #0 is finally done and in pre-press. It should be out on our website as a BitPass (http://www.bitpass.com) WebComic within the next week or so in conjunction with Jason Moser's Ellium: Sword of the Dragon. The paper copy will be on ComixPress a little later, and God Willing, it'll be in a few NYC-area stores soon after that.

The new Equal Footing is out today on www.comixpress.com (and is the cause of this note). My article: Comics and the 4 P's is in it concerning comic book marketing. It's a B-School Theory piece, but you'll like it.

Marc is lettering the NOC piece. I don't have an ETA.

Finally: no baby yet. I thought it was gonna be this weekend, but no. We still wait.

I've been story-editing Myriad from Approbation Comics (in Previews now. Page 239. I think).

Me and my team are getting Drifter (http://www.digitalwebbing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67322) ready for publishing. Already got two publishers expressing interest in it.

And when I find time, I've got to get a mini-edition series - Raptor - ready for submitting to publishers.

These all sound great! What have I got? Hmmm....Let's see...

The Greatest: The story of self serving assholes who are viewed as the greatest superheroes ever known. Truth be told they are the worst thing to ever happen to society but as long as the everyday folks don't know it who cares right? Self serving poser heroes who run around covering up their missdoings and ALWAYS getting away with it. What people don't know won't hurt em'. Gotta love the scumbags...

The Trucker and other Tales of the American Road: Story of R.T. McMillan a.k.a. the Trucker, his foul mouthed, beer guzzling, dog, Roach, the semi "Lucille", a nazi radio, and other strange and mixed up people of the open road. All the stories of creatures and strange doings in the wilds of the great American dream...are true. This is an adventure into the madness that is the great highways of this wonderfully screwed up nation.

Chronicles of FarAway: Story of a young boy trying to find what his place is in a land torn by an age old evil which has left a once beautiful world broken and divided. His quest will lead him to discover the very nature of his world and his importance to it's salvation. Love, life and adventure this one is my one and only fantasy epic and I intend to keep it that way because doing fantasy makes my head hurt...not sure why...

The Constable: The nuclear waste land that was once Detroit is now the one and only American prison. People are dropped in...and they don't come back out. Mutants, cannibals, and religious fanatics abound in this nuclear melting pot, feasting on those who were "lucky" enough not to be greatly effected by the radiation. However there is one man who likes to hunt the big dogs. Roy, the self appointed Constable, and Trig his hunchbacked monster of a sidekick dispense lethal justice on any freak that happens to get in their way. Can't really call them heroes...They just have nothing better to do.

Not even a quarter of what I 've been doing but that's the one's I'm really into at the moment. Hope ya like em! :har:

I'm currently working on a comedy buddy book. The setting is of a superhero run reality where good pretty well dominates over evil. The heros of this universe begin to get bored and will stop crime in any form, such as defacing public property. The story pretty much follows two hobos who get super powers through some cliche process and then follows them around through their dark spot on society adventures. They try out both sides of the coin and be good and bad for a spell, and also ponder thoughts of getting even for heros who have made them fools in the past.

It should be a lot of fun. I haven't written a comedy in any form since a movie script 2002, so it will be good to get back into that genre.

They help me a bit, if anything else, it's guilt on my shoulder to make me work.

Lessee, what am I doing.

The Fatebreaker - My major project. Working on the proposal for it now. It's a pretty big project, slated at 48 issues currently, but I'm working on alterations to cut the number down. Long runs seems to be limited in their viabilty these days.rs. It's a Sci-fi action tale about a young woman finding out she's actually a machine and dealing not only with the upheaval it causes her life, but being a pawn in a grand war game.

The Choir - This is actually a universe I'm working on that I plan to base a large number of mini series is. It deals with a global sercret organization who are the self appointed guardians of the kingdom of man. It ties into a lot of history and mythos from around the world, but I'm doing some heavy modifacation of myths in an attempt to keep things fresh.

Timeless - A space adventure I want to do in time. I plan on doing a 9 issue mini series about the characters before the series start. About their lives before the met each other and all. Figure it could work. Maybe be a foot in the door if FateBreaker does take.

I have like 5 or 6 other little one on the back burner, since these are eating all my time at the moment.

48 issues is going to be a VERY tough sell without a major body of work to back you up. I cannot imagine anybody investing in that amount of work for a newbie-writer. Jason DeGroot just finished writing and is trying to self-publish his own 380-page magnum-opus Kreetor, and even though he has over 4 years of small-press experience and a ton of books in print with various artists, I still think it's a long-shot for him to actually get it all done.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't do it, but I would pick out the best 3-4 issues and start there.

I'm actually gonna just try and sell the first arc. It's only like 12 issues. THat should be much easier to sell I'm thinking.

DannoE
05-27-2005, 10:58 AM
That will be easier to sell, but a 3-4 issue arc will be even easier than that. Look at it this way: an arc that is 3-5 issues can be repackaged for TPB, and that is where 75% of the profitability is going to come from.

If you were an established NAME, then I would say: Go For It with no issues. But as it is, you're asking for someone to invest in you. Make it easy for them.

The 3-4 thing will probably work with Timeless, but not with Fatebreaker. 12 is the smallest the first arc will go, so I'm stuck with that. Both are on set to be my prime endevors, so I'll see what happens.

You'd be surprised at how possible it is to cut 12 issues down to a smaller number. I just did that with a series proposal, cutting it down from twelve to five issues. I had to do a LOT of reorganizing, and a lot of re-writing (I had the first three issues scripted, even)...but the books are PACKED with story and action, and it's far better than it was previously.

When you give yourself twelve issues, you generally have a bunch of stuff that isn't ESSENTIAL to the story or story arc. As soon as you decide, "I'm cutting it to five," you end up cutting ALL the chaff, which makes the story stronger in the end.

Them's my 2 cents.

I have placed a short comic with a major horror anthology due out in October.

I've turned over a script for a 48-page, full color book to an artist.

And now I'm working on the script for a 100+ graphic novel.

Hey guys, here is what I'm working on!

Reaper Corp- The story is about a 16 year old girl who die's and finds out that the grim reaper is actually a 17" tall monkey. That's all I really want to say about this one there are a lot of twist on the afterlife in it. I have most of the script worked out and I need to go back and work some of the kinks out on it.

I'm also working on a novel biased in a world I created for gaming purposes. It will be my first full length novel and right now it's kind of got buffaloed. I was wondering if it helped to have a detailed out line while your writing it or is going loose goosey the way to go?
:fart:

lol the 17" monkey made me laugh. should be an interesting read from the way it sounds so far.

as far as novels are concerned, i have three in the later stages of completion, and i have only used a rough outline on one of them. i had too many characters to keep track of without it, and was forced to use it. i think outlining can be helpful, but i prefer to make notes on where i want to go and what i want to do, even so far as to note some dialogue i want to put in somewhere, and then write from the hip. i usually write four or five chapters, and then go back and read it, revise it, add to it, and then continue. i find that without the outline, i am much more mentally open to making changes on the fly, often adding in things i hadnt even thought of until i got to the point where it just made perfect sense. i used a similar method running role playing games and it made for a much more exciting game session, and far more fullfilling for me as the game master as well.

as with anything creative, no one can tell you how best to make your story. they can tell you what works for them, and where they screwed up personally, but in the end you gotta find the glove that fits you best.

Just realised I'm guilty of not shamelessly self-promoting my work here!

Projects, projects...

THE GLOOM: Yeah, we all know this one by now. My pulp noir 6 part series with Dan Boultwood - Issue #1's out and sold out, issue #2's almost sold out too. Helped by a SBC review that says 'buy this book. Sell a kidney if you have to'. Also has pre-orders of 10,000+ for the TPB, a film offer is on the table, and it's going to be a mobile phone game in the states. See me milk it.

MIDNIGHT KISS: Branded 'certified cool' by PREVIEWS and out in August, some of you old school chaps will remember snippets of this appearing over two years ago. matt Sable and Nightmare De'Lacy in a fun-filled romp through a multiverse of worlds with Angels, Demons, Tin Men scarecrows and aligator Kings. Some of the most fantastical stuff I've ever written - and Ryan Stegman is a genius Written issues #1-4, and have a plotted outine up to #18. Is an ongoing.

SHADOWMANCER: I'm adapting G.P. Taylor's million-selling children's book into a 10 issue adaptation to tie in with the Movie release. This only got PR'd a week back, so it's still hectic. first two issues already scripted though. I also have a second G.P Taylor project for July, and another adaptation later in the year of a different author.

WHERE EVILS DARE: My Dirty Dozen meets Van Helsing story where a crack team of WW2 allies find themselves against Vampires, Werewolves and Zombie Nazis. Five issues, and drawn by STARSHIP TROOPERS Sam Hart.

JENNI BLONDE: What would the grown up daughter of Steed and Mrs Peel be like? Modern day adventures of a superspy with an attitude that would make John Constantine cry.

WiCKeRMaN: My current baby - I Robot meets Spartacus in a simpler world where wooden Wickermen are magicially given life to work the fields - until one Wickerman realises that he used to have a different, human life before...

MYTHLANDS: Now on hiatus.

BJORN OF THE DEAD: The answer to the eternal question - 'who would win a battle between Ninjas, Zombies and Vikings?' 4 issue follow up to THE GLOOM with Dan Boultwood.

Novels -

KING BILL - AND THE SPIRIT OF ALBION: 13 year old skaterboy discovers he's the next Pendragon, wielder of Excalibur, with all the problems associated.

DIARY OF A DESPOT: Think the Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, but change Adrian Mole for someone more like Ming The Merciless.

That's about it at the moment :-)

Some of these projects sound simply amazing. If there are any artists browsing these threads, I'm sure they'll be emailing a few of you based on them. Here are my modest projects

PAW: Pro Animal Wrestling - a story I'm writing for Twisted Gate Entertainment (http://twistedgate.com) that features animals with human characteristics that have formed a wrestling organization. Modeled after classic players from WWE, with a more humorous twist. The preliminary pages are debuting in the second issue of Twisted Gate's anthology title: The Portal. Based on reader response, an ongoing is scheduled with the script for the first issue already finished.

Four Gunmen - Tentatively titled western about four outlaw gunmen and the terrible mistakes they make while on the run that lead to their individual fates. The story is best described as Reservoir Dogs meets The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. My artist is Greg Smallwood, whose work you can view in my signature. You can give your opinion on the new title in the first post of my livejournal, also in my signature.

Frontier Publishing (also in my sig) is working on the second issue of Frontier Publishing Presents that I'll be contributing to as an editor. This was a lot of fun. I hope everybody else continues to post their upcoming projects.

I've set aside my Skanles project and I've assigned most of the projects on Indie Gods to others in the company. That means I have loads more free time than usual so I've been developing 4 projects on and off.

100 Sleepless Nights for Isabella - This is my homage to the amazing Italian gialli films I grew up on. The story takes place in Rome and revolves around a girl with a severe case of insomnia named, Isabella. Her friends are being murdered one by one and all signs indicate her dead brother. This is geared more toward Argento and Bava fans.

Joe Horror Presents "The Guide To Getting Drunk & Scared - This is basically a horror review magazine several of us at Indie Gods are working on. It's geared more toward the average joe who enjoys an ice cold beer and a b-movie. Very no holds barred kinda stuff.

Stuff'd - Billy Deal, a small abused child, ends up in a fantastic land of living Scarecrows and barbarian Crows, fighting for control of the Realm of Silo. Billy will decide Silo's ultimate fate. I actually have quite a few concept illustrations of this on my forum. Awesome concept featuring character designs by Danimation.

White Devil - This is a whitesploitationer I'm working on right now. The story revolves around White Devil, the baddest, meanest cracker that ever walked the streets. Think Luke Cage meets the House of Pain. WD runs the streets until the local police form a gang to take the streets back, by any means necessary. Big guns, big boobs, loads of afro jokes and plenty of blood.

a 48 issue series?

god bless you, but you might as well harness the moon and scribble on that...

lol thats kinda funny considering ultimately one of my storys was slated to run 48 issues.

anyway, last time i self promoted i was doing a ton of work for Storrm comics, but that entire thing died a horrible death, so with several other people i have formed Paper Dragonz, a small press publisher focusing on creator owned titles with unique style art and solid writing. we are on track to have our comics out in November and will be at the WW Dallas for sure with a table, so if you go to that con, come by and say hey!

titles i have in various states of production:

Kansas Hit...completed, undergoing edits, and i am a picky bastard who cant settle on an artist yet. but i have high hopes.

Sins of the Father...its a four issue limited now, and nearly complete. i have an artist attached after much searching, and should get art back this week.

Totem... 3 issues in the can, with 3 to go to complete this first arc. the art is by a guy named Adam Hebert and he is awesome! you can catch some of his stuff on my website, or check out some of the draw offs here on DW. hes got the goods.

48...3 of 4 issues in the can and i can see the end of the tunnel here for sure. the art by Geoff Mosse is unlike anything on the shelf right now, and its truly inspired. Geoff has a great eye and is very energetic in his approach to the work. its been a great experience working with him and i sure hope its a long and lasting collaboration.

Grace...a revenge story set in Roman times about a girl, and her axe. the art should begin rolling in soon and its gonna be sweet!

while writing takes most of my time and energy i will also be coloring a title called Bullet Time, which is going to blow people away. its written by the best writer you have never heard of, a guy named Steven Forbes, with art by Marvel inker and artist from the 70s Dave Simons. its got a sweet look to it, and the story is unreal. it will be well worth it when this book comes out next year.

and with all that, i may try my hand at lettering several books as well in the near future. if its one thing i have learned about self publishing, its be a jack of all trades!

Do journals help your writing?

So after Mic raised the question I started to think to myself that "Hey that may be a good idea". So I started up my own blog on www.1up.com (under the user name djsakuya) and I've found that it is helping a lot. I've never been one to keep a Journal (I thinks it was due to the fact that I was already getting made fun of because of my other wierd habbits. Dungeons and Dragons and magic the gathering).

The blog helps me think about all the stuff I didn't write about back in the day and that helps me think about other story ideas. I think the blog actually helped me come up with where I wanted my novel to go. Plus it gave me an Idea for a Comic

Shop-mart
It's biased on my time spent as a clerk at a local department store (We'll keep the name a secret but let’s just say a famous home maker, we will call M. Stewart. No wait that’s too obvious well just call her Martha S, sells her name brand there). Now this may seem like a boring concept but it’s really not some of the things that go on there are really crazy. It will be something like Clerks crossed with Scrubs (if you haven't seen scrubs I recommend going to check it out).

Any how thanks Mic

I've been having great success using my blog as a promotional vehicle by telling funny stories about growing up in Brooklyn and going to school in Boston. The nice thing is, it appeals to more than just comic fans. I've been doing it every Monday through Friday for the past four months and, hey, got super-star publisher Larry Young doing tongue-in-cheek fanfiction about me:

It's an easy way to update content daily. The content is whatever you choose it to be. Some of the more borring blogs are the ones were people just talk about thier day without any point or spin. The key is, you have to have a schtick or else it'll be like every other blog out there.

A blog is a great way to brand yourself, prove you can write regularly and show a side of you that may or may not shine through otherwise.

Pipes - Something I'm working on as a submission for Platinum Studios. It's what could have happened to Peter Pan.

Best page in the universe is indeed the best page in the universe. Everyone should read that.

And back to new projects, Hoarse & Buggy (http://www.hoarseandbuggy.com) is releasing our third book, RITUAL HOMICIDE (http://www.poorlydrawnanimals.com/images/vodouteaserad.gif). We also have a fourth book lined up in the coming months and two more in early stages of development.

Elk's Run (http://www.hoarseandbuggy.com/shop/book.html/cat/3) has some exciting news in the next couple of weeks, even more exciting than the "A" we got from Entertainment Weekly (http://www.poorlydrawnanimals.com/blog/images/EWblurb.gif) and Western Tales of Terror 5 (http://www.hoarseandbuggy.com/shop/book.html/cat/1) features three Eisner nominated talents: Steve Niles, Tony Moore and a cover by Kieron Dwyer. Also features Jason Rand, Tom Mandrake, Scott Mills and Juan Ferryera. It's a busy time for H&B.

Once Bitten sounds interesting, especially since it seems like you're going to make the humans the true threat.

I was recently on a website that had a project that dealt with an alien invasion of Earth. The aliens killed everybody on the planet, and the only creatures to survive (supposedly) were vampires. The vampires basically became blood-sucking nomads, and the only remnants of the human race. I'm sure if I looked I could find it again. It was fascinating.

Hoarse & Buggy seems to be doing well, J. I never heard back from you guys about my WToT sub, but that probably just means it... wasn't very good. Or perhaps shredded upon arrival. I like that better. :) Been reading WToT from the beginning, and was thrilled to hear about Elk's Run getting the press in EW. Frontier has a story coming up in FPP #2 by a writer, Joel Jenkins, who has worked with Noel before, so its good to see him making his mark too.

You may have some angry horror fans on your hands with this one being that it shares a title with an old Jim Carrey horror movie featuring vampires from 1985.

But hey, also don't let that stop you from writing the story. Just because the book shares a title with a movie doesn't mean it isn't a good idea. A title can define a story, but it's always a better idea to let the story define the title.

Wow, I know I should be offended but I'm intrigued in what issuies you'll be working out with the last one. As long as it's not '90s image stupid...
Looking forward to hearing more on these.
It's definitely not a comedy or a lame role reversal. I'll be presenting the "other side of the coin" from the old exploitation/blaxploitation movie viewpoint in which the lead black character was always defending himself from or on the run from a "white devil" or "the man". This character is "that man", aptly named White Devil. Of course, he won't be racist but the racial tension will be there. I'm not looking to treat black characters like white characters with black face paint and I feel it would be just as inaccurate to depict white criminals as racially tolerant, liberal guilt types as well. It will probably be offensive but not really in the wrong way, if that makes any sense.

One shouldn't avoid writing a story simply because the name matches a movie title but one should be aware of things like that when writing for a specific genre. A title can be changed though and in many cases should when it comes to things like this. Horror fans are a very loyal crowd and this kind of faux pas can whip them up pretty fast.

He should MOST DEFINITELY write the story. Creators must create now matter how big in scope their project is. Ideas can always be pared down when it needs to be and massive epics can always be released in installments. I definitely encourage Penchant to go for it. Here's some pics from the same type of concept I'm sitting on that I created awhile back. Hell, if we all let similar themes, names and the scope of projects hold us back, we'd still be scrawling buffalo on cave walls.

Stephen Toth is a spectacular illustrator. He was actually only contracted though to create those 3 character concepts based on my designs. I find it almost impossible to write a concept until I can see my main characters faces. It allows me to get inside their heads. The main reason why it's just sitting is that so many concepts come to me hard and fast that I have to set aside many just to stay sane. I'm an insomniac with a massive case of P.T.S.D. and sleep apnea so the concepts never stop because I rarely sleep lol. I love creating though. The difficulties to me are nothing more than steps in a staircase. Eventually, you reach the top...and then you're able to spit on the heads of those that tried to get you to stop climbing.

I'm all about rubbing it in. :har:

Nothing much, really--

Stampede is a two-part, 28-page serial about a fictitious British messenger service set during the end of the Victorian Age. It will be submitted to DWP near the end of the year, tentatively. It's steampunk meets the Wild West.

Abigail & Rox is a limited series about a little girl and her teddy bear trapped within the world of the Brothers Grimm. First issue will be illustrated by Adrian Sibar, who was also the illustrator for the upcoming DWP story THE PASSENGER. This will also be submitted to DWP near the end of the year. You can see his work here (http://www.digitalwebbing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73046).

I'm fairly new at this, but here's my two projects:

1. A one-shot story of a war set in a fantasy setting from the perspective of a common soldier, as opposed to a epic hero. Think Cold Mountain with a fantasy setting.

2. A reverse fairy-tale where a price has the make the choice between his crown or the peasant girl he loves -- and chooses the crown. The story is the repercussions of that choice. I'm writing it as a 3 issue mini.

I'm fully familiar with that flick. As a huge fan of Jim's, I've even seen it (the horror!). Is it really much loved though? Anyhoo, I chose the title because I loved the title, not because I loved the film (which is rather silly...is it any wonder that he had to wait nearly another decade to become a star?), and because it adds a certain menace to the proceedings.

Nice sketches, btw. Hopefully you can get back to that project at some point. Thanks, too, for the encouragement. :)

Does anyone think about marketing?

DannoE
08-06-2005, 08:34 AM
Marketing = Product + Position + Place + Price. http://marketing.about.com/od/marketingplanandstrategy/a/marketingmix.htm

Product - A good comic that folks want to read. Either a quality product with a high price (like a Mercedes) or a value product with decent value for a low price (like Manga).

Position - What section of the market am I going after? Of course, you need to know how the market is already segmented first to make an intelligent decision about that.

Place - How is my product different from what's already out there? Why should people buy MY comic instead of Spider Man?

Price - This ties back into the quality vs. value decision.

samy

Yeah I think about marketing and hate every moment of it. I wish I could just pawn that part of the process off on somebody else. Unfortunately at this stage of the process that's fairly unlikely. Ultimately I suppose my only real marketing tactic will be to send out lots of free review copies. We'll see if that does any good.

Is this the same thread from last year? Because I could swear I posted some of what I'm into in that thread. Not that it would be up to date, anyway :D.

So here it goes:

THE BURNING RAGE: BOOGEYMEN
"Something strange is happening in the Gateway City ghetto Eden's Ridge. Already overrun with poverty, gang violence, and mob activity, the police now has to deal with a series of mysterious decapitations and the disappearance of countless homeless people.

Into this world awakens Michael, a sixteen year old boy found wounded in a dark alley by one of Gateway City's homeless. He has no clue what has happened to him; his identity is a riddle even to him. The dark alleys of Eden's Ridge become his home; alleys stalked by horrifying creatures who want nothing more than to feed on human flesh.

Realizing he possesses powers beyond anything previously known to mankind, Michael sets out to fight the horrors of Eden's Ridge.

There is, however, another side to Michael. A side so dark and powerful, it could mean the end of civilization as we know it, and usher in a chaotic reign of unimaginable proportions. And those aware of this dark side may very well decide that his death could only be a blessing..."

Some of you may remember the brief 3-page teaser I posted for this. There's actually now some character sketches up for this at my website (drawn by the talented Josh Skeel). It's set to be published in Early 2007.

NEBRASKA UNDEAD
"In 1846, the Nebraska Territory is about as rough and untamed as it gets. Peter O'Reilly knows this all to well. Living under the constant control of a despotic father and a powerless mother, Peter grows up to be a rather timid teenager. That is, until an undead man mortally wounds his father, and launches Peter on a crusade against darkness that may very well cost him his very heart and soul.

Nebraska Undead combines the western and horrors genres with a deeply human core: Peter, who never wanted to become the cold, hard man his father had wanted to make him, but may have no choice if he wants to survive the undead."

This one, too, has been posted here before, in the form of a ten-page prologue. Got no artist or release date set yet, as The Burning Rage: Boogeymen is my primary objective right now.

GERMAN BOY
"Probably the most personal project currently in the works, German Boy is loosely based on David A. Flanary, Jr.'s experience of returning to the United States of America after a thirteen year abscene. Despite the fact that it is, very loosely, based on David Flanary's life, German Boy is nevertheless a fictional story.

Sixteen years old Daniel Flanagan has lived in Germany for as long as he can remember. Everything changes, however, when his American father decides to return the family to the United States and start a new life.

As if facing a new life isn't bad enough, this hilarious comedy kicks into high gear when Daniel has to attend the most dreaded institution among American teenagers: high school. Blessed, or cursed, with an overactive imagination and the bad habit of mentally speaking to himself, Daniel's life soon spirals out of control. Gut-busting flashes of Daniel's imagination and his side-splitting mental commentary on life in the U.S. of A. make German Boy a comic book comedy nobody should miss."

Another one that has been sampled on this forum before. People responded to it very well in a sort of drama form, but I've decided to go with a comedy. It's pretty nuts, and all of the jokes are really visual, so I'm gonna need one heck of an artist to pull it of.

These are just three of the things I'm working on to self-publish. I'm writing a WHOLE LOT more right now.

Oh, and if you're wondering why the above descriptions of my projects are pretty self-promoting, that's because I simply copy-and-pasted them from my website, where a bunch of script samples are up, too. :D

Wonderboy I'm debating whether this should be an ongoing comic or a graphic novel but, it basically ask "what if Superman landed in Washington DC rather than Smallville? " The ongoing inspirations for the comic are supplied by the current news of the day.

Arctic Circle is probably the most ambitious project I have right now. You can read a sample of it here (http://www.digitalwebbing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77542&highlight=arctic+circle). It'll be a while before this one is completed.

Stampede: Innocents Abroad is probably my favorite concept at the moment. It's a western during the Victorian age. I'm still tweaking the final details, but it looks like I might have a french illustrator lined up to paint it.

Abigail & Rox is a children's story currently in the production phase. I am re-teaming with illustrator, Adrian Sibar, who also worked on my upcoming story, the Passenger slated for DWP 28.

The Fallout, which is a smaller story about two brothers courting the same woman. You can read a sample of the story here (http://www.digitalwebbing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79360).

Working on a lot of stuff to hopefully start submitting, been in touch with a couple of artists but nothing's nailed down yet.

The Team : a group of supervillains are turned into hereoes by an unscrupulous government and become celebrities. When they go rogue, it's up to two former members to put together a new team and take them down.

Antihero : The King is the world's foremost super-assassin, but he made one mistake in his career and was sent to prison. When thirteen of the world's worst super-criminals escape from a prison transport, the government must turn to The King to hunt them down and kill them.

Perfect Zero : a group of archaelogists uncover a millenia-old temple, and are transformed into the Ancients, six forgotten gods who existed in Earth a million years ago. When the Ancients begin to transform the world back to the way they remember it, a crack special forces squad is dispatched to take them down.

Born and Bred: To Fight Crime : John Born and Les Bred are a duo of crime-fighters who more or less hate one another. When a mysterious new crime lord called The Misanthrope shows up in town, it's up to the not-so-dynamic duo to stop him.

Worldagent : The Worldagency has existed since WWII to monitor superhumans. The Agency is an open conspiracy/urban myth, everyone knows they exist but no one knows who works for them. When a top Worldagent goes rogue, it's up to a mis-matched pair of Agents to track him across the world and stop his deadly rampage for good.

And I've started a novel that is called Hexagram which is about a centuries-old secret society that wages an underground war against a new, dark species of human being.

Since I'm NaNoWriMo - ing, I guess all my projects are on hold.

I have two short stories I am trying to serialize and format for possible anthology inclusion, provided I find an artist.

I'm also working on a series of four to eight chapter books that tell a larger story of a time when people grow super powers and it gacks with reality. Jrod told me to work on my pitch so here it is for that project:

Reality and history are mutable and are consistent enough to keep people from going crazy, but there is a dam holding back the power that creates superheros and it's starting to show cracks.

I have a novela idea about five people at a beach house where the house gives you everything you need but not necesceraly what you want.

My NaNoWriMo project is (and I decided this today, around when I decided to actually do it) Captian Insane! It's a concept I've thought about for a long while and hopefully my man CI is up to the riggors of 1700 words a day.

I'm sure I've got other things rattling around in there, like a novel where a man finds some magic that allows him to trade places wtih the guy he would have been if he had made different choices in his life, but as I said, these are all on hold until December.

Peace all.

This thread's still here? Neat!

For the last two weeks I've been brushing up on my knowledge of Greek mythology, for a story about Hades I want to write, by re-reading my college mythology text while in the can.

This last weekend, I put together a rough plot for a time-traveling-superhero-killers tale tentatively titled Redline, which I am preparing to pitch to a semi-retired-from-comics-former-Robotech-and-Marvel-artist to work on, and I worked a little on the plot for Newbold's fantasy concept Gloom. I reworked the dialogue for the first issue and lettered it last week and I liked so much, I signed on to write the rest of the 5-ish series.

Today, I wrote Issue 4 of a 6-issue miniseries I've had plotted forever (and been waiting around for Image to get back to me on it for almost as long... fingers crossed, of course. Mr. Larsen, if you're reading this, TAKE YOUR TIME. I'll wait. :) ).

Tonight I'm going to finish editing a story for Fred aka cupil (it's really good!), which I hope to letter when he finds an artist for it. [sorry Fred, I know I said I'd get it done last night... but I went out]

Tomorrow, I'm going to start working on a new Warmageddon story, Zombie City, for which I received the plot brief today.

Meanwhile, I've been waiting for DannoE to tell me Horizons is up and ready for public consumption so I can scream to the rooftops for everyone to check out my western vigilante tale, Lizzie Six-Gun.

Aaaaand... right now, I'm going to go take out the trash so my girlfriend stops scowling at me :har:

He likes my story! *Sniff* it feels so good, being accepted . . .
:slap:
But seriously, take your time, Rich. Also, I WANT you to letter it, so you don't have to hope
And I'm looking into the art situation. ANY ARTISTS READING THIS GO TO THE LINK IN MY SIGNATURE A-SAP! (don't mind the little story there hehe)
Thanks.

And mad props to all the people who've put their projects up here, sweet jesus there's a lot of talent up here! Good luck to all!

It's looking like December 1st. And I was basically hiding under the table until then.

Actually, this week's News Page (http://www.proletariatcomics.com/news.html) has a more full accounting.

Love to see that mini series if you're looking for test readers.

Dan: Ummm... the link just shows me the cool "Proletariat P" (have I told you how cool that logo is lately?) tattooed on Praxis' butt :) And no hurry. I just have been dying to start talking about it, as you can see.

As for the miniseries... Once I get around to writing issue 5 and 6, you bet!

Fred: Kickass. I think it's going to be a fun one to letter. I want to give the special... umm... you-know-who's... some special voices and stuff.

Ugga: I went over and read the Awesome Justice stuff last night. Very funny stuff! I love the "What are the FORBIDDEN WORDS" bit, and the "which evil laugh is better" bit.

And we're getting close, believe me, it's just that we're also doing the stuff for the Con now too, and it's a lot.

Thanks. That logo is from Joel Klampert (http://www.roodgraphics.com ) from the RC Group, and I could NEVER say enough good stuff about his work. He actually feeds his family (of 4) by designing logos!

Hey everyone. Once again, I am thrilled to present a new webisode of Awesome Storm Justice 41

Writing: Stephen Offenheim (Ugga Bugga)
Pencils: Rich Fuscia (Fusciart)
Inks: Franklin Dawson Jr. (Rocket37)

Cover pencils: Cabralsoth
Cover inks: Franklin Dawson Jr. (Rocket37)

My apologies to ToadBoy who did the letters, but my improper instructions regarding formatting, and a foul up caused us to not have the resolution we needed. Thanks to Ama, for filling in, and redoing them

This was the first webisode where I was not lead editor. I turned things over to banshee who did a smash up job.

btw, we are working on a way to present the webisodes in higher definition, and should have the webisodes available in higher definition format sometime in the new year.

If you are interested in being put on a mailing list for updates, PM me with your email address

I'm working on one comic script called To Steal a Soul and a second comic script called Traveller. The first 8 pages of Traveller can be found in the writer schowcase. I'm also working on an untitled novel and I'm planning a script for a play of To Steal a Soul.

An actor friend of mine who's into theater and doesn't like comics wants me to write it into a play real bad.

Thanks so much "r". We have had a ton of fun with this. As Dan mentions above, we are expanding the franchise with a Saiko mini-series. Pitches are being accepted until December 31.

The details can be found at

Having been involved in the creation of upcoming webisodes, I can tell you that Dan did a bang up job, and you will not be disappointed.

When Dan's three issues are finished, I will be on as writer for some time. These characters are tons of fun to work with.

Let's hear what you're all up to.
Well, I've got a couple of things brewing, but the project I'm digging the most is "BAD SHAPE". The idea started right here at DW.

I've worked with a bunch of extremely talented artists-- most I met here --and gotten some beautiful work from them, but, more often than not, something comes up or goes awry and, POOF, they're gone.

So, one night, I decided to see if I could put together a couple of comic strips on my own. I'd like to note that my skill at putting pencil to paper does not extend beyond scrawling my own name and drawing picture of poop, but here I was trying to put together a comic.

The results were Blue and Slim, a pair of talking shapes.

Before I could say shiznit, I'd cranked out a dozen strips. The kind of stuff that just had me giggling uncontrollably while writing. BAD SHAPE went from being a random "see-if-I-can" to a daily webcomic (http://madugly.com) and I'm loving it. :)

Been a while- but this is as good a thread as any to hop back in.

We've been busy with Twinblades 1. Just got it lettered and it's now ready to go to print. It'll be out January/February sometime- through Alias Enterprises.

I've learned a lot about getting a book out, as well as the biz in general. About a year and a half ago, Andie Tong and I were posting submission pages. And now the book is being solicited in Diamond Previews.

Although Andie has had to move on, the project was kept alive by ex-wildstorm artist Ryan Odagawa.

http://www.ascendantstudios.com/forum_promo/twinblades02_pg06_07.jpg

Issue 2 pencils are done, and it's getting colored as we speak. This needs to be ready for print mid January....

So the hard work has paid off. I hope all of you get a chance to pick up the book, if for no other reason then to see what a fellow DW poster is up to.

http://www.ascendantstudios.com/forum_promo/promo_TB1.jpg

Another title is in the works.

On another note, I'm looking for a great writer. Preferably someone who's already written for a published book...

It's great to see so many activer creative types.

Just polishing up the dialogue on Zombie Highway which Ed just placed in a coming Previews.

Trying to figure out what back stories to place in the upcoming ZH series. Probably "The Kids of Cthulhu High," and "End of All."

And forming a pitch called "Ghost Telling." Hopefully a believable mix between
Chinese and Western ghost stories through the adventures of a pair of siblings.

(Sadly, I just put to bed a project I spent working on all last summer and had writted several issues called The Atomic Era. It was about a group of mismatched heroes in the 50''s that deals just as much with the social and political climate. I'd heard that something is coming out about heroes in the 60's. Truly a shame.)

It has been a while, so here is an update from me.

1. My script for Legacy: Rebellion, a fantasy one-shot, is finally moving to production. This is a prequel tale set in the world of Legacy, the first book published by Dabel Brothers Production (http://www.dabelbrothers.com). The artist has started to deliver concept sketches, and I have finished a re-draft of the script, so things are moving.

2. I have a short story coming up in a Ronin Studios fantasy anthology. You can see a preview pic by the artist Michael Kasinger here: Tiki's Phayrie promo (http://www.comicsindependent.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=17&pos=33)

3. I am moving ahead on the script for They & Them a 2 issue action/adventure/ espionage book for Bear Claw Studios (http://bearclawstudios.com/)

War and Armageddon. Together. What's not to like?

I just finished writing an 18-page feature story for Warmageddon Quarterly #3 (I think it's #3) last night, and today I found out that WQ #1 went on sale today (I think it was today). Either way, it seemed fortuitous to me :)

I have two zombie stories appearing in there, and I'm also expecting to see a pirate story as I've written five with the same crew, though it's not mentioned in the product description. It may have been pushed back to #2. Who knows?

There are oodles of DW'ers pitching in on this to make this a great book, and it's only available online, so BUY IT HERE (http://ljamal.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=67) and give us some love and feedback!

Thanks,

Lousy mood or not, you shouldn't complain about a thread I've been letting slide for a long time (all of this should be posted in the "Pimp It Here" forum).

Personally, I've looked at every project posted in this thread (even going so far as to track down Tony "tree climber" Lee's projects because he doesn't always post links).
