Hi, guys,

Not many of you will remember this, but waaaaay back on June 3rd 2007, I took the "Create a comic book in a day" challenge.
Yeah, I was that crazy back then.
22 pages (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/550245/gallery/Zeu/Meus%20Projectos/Airla/original%20010.jpg) in one day, story made as-I-went.
Posted the WIP in real time on forums everywhere and all I can say is it was the most fun you're legally allowed to have online.
Exhausting, too. ^_^

Well, I've decided to revisit my bouldery brawler once more.
Been thinking of telling a new story about her adventures this year, though a bit more polished this time. Maybe I can get her on Kickstarter, submit her to Image (shut up and let me dream ^_^ ) or something.
Anyway, fine gents, meet my granite gladiatrix Airla.
Airla, these are my gents.

Airla, the Granite Gladiatrix.
The Bouldery Brawler
The Rocky Revenant, heroine of our story.

This is the part I live for: World building.
Never let creatives fool you, this is where most of the fun is, this is what it's all about.
When all is up in the air and you get to decide everything, from which guilt food she eats to which car model is going to have its suspension tortured on a daily basis by her 240 kilos. ^_^

Folks in 2007 wanted Airla to be a redheaded asian girl.
Yes, it was all fun and games when I was drawing BW, but now I have to color her.
How on earth do I make a believable redheaded walking, talking statue of granite? o_O

And how could I have gone through 9 years without revisiting mah gal?

The one where you get to hear my thick portuguese accent. ^_^

The script's done - though I'll probably be reading, re-reading and tweaking it at least 20 times before it assumes its final/ultimate form-.

Script is done (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1Vvpn0_ggQ&feature=youtu.be)

Character designs are pretty much done too, I'll post final concept pics for sidekicks Pollux, Adrian, bad boy Glassenger and Mr. Paragriffen over the week.

So now, it's just a matter of finding the time to sit in front of a blank sheet and start drawing it.

Which is gonna be complicated since there's rent-paying work to prioritise and, with Jungle Queen Sheva being picked by Comixology, I gotta put Sheva #2 in the fast lane.
Good news is Sheva#2's script is done too.

Man, why can't days have 50 hours...

This story will be called The Wizard, the Wild and the Wicked.
You've met The Wild, Airla herself.
It's time to meet her two untrustworthy sidekicks.

The one where you meet the grownups. :)
I have NO idea which kinda weapon goes with that holster, but I'm pretty sure it can shatter granite easy-peasy.

Making of AIRLA and the TROUBLEMAKERS, part 5

Just simple sketches, these are early designs for a Praetorian escort guard.

And here you get meet Senator Caius Galerius Lupicinus, Airla's old BFF from her gladiatrix days.
The original 2007 Caius had a moustache, only because folks wanted to see a moustache-twirling villain and I caved, even though ancient romans weren't keen on facial hair.

Fourty minute sketch, lost a lot of time trying to decide which footwear to give him.
