Greetings! My name is Shobo Coker. My brother, Shofela and I are the ceators of comic book project called Outcasts of Jupiter (http://tapastic.com/episode/65786)

We've recently started work on a spin-off series set in the same universe, called Under a Jovian Sun (https://tapastic.com/episode/169178). Unfortunately, our regular penciller has had to bow out of production for personal reasons, as such, we're looking for a new penciller to collaborate with.

This is a paid, work-for-hire gig, and we're willing to pay decent rates in order to find the perfect partner. Hey, maybe that's you!

What We're Looking For:

Consistency - In both delivery and art. We'd like an output of 3 pages/month

Tight Pencils - We're not looking for someone to ape our previous penciller's style, but we do require relatively tight pencils as they won't be inked, they're going straight to color.

Flexibility - Under a Jovian Sun takes place in the future, but it's a technologically anachronistic universe. One glance at Outcasts of Jupiter and you'll see that while there are spaceships, aliens and blasters, there are also swords, mud huts and people dressed in traditional clothing.

A Storyteller - Layout, color choice, composition and pacing and super-important. Someone willing to do a small amount of visual design research, read scripts and understand character motivations and personalities.

Out stories take place across the globe, in places like Morocco, Lagos, China and the far reaches of outer space. We'll provide a lot of support via detailed descriptions, reference images, and a growing wiki, but we need an artist capable of instilling images with a strong sense of place based on the local culture. This includes architecture, local dress and the physical characteristics of the indigenous people.

Payment:

We prefer PayPal, but can work with Western Union if absolutely necessary. With PayPal, we can pay 50% before and 50% upon successfull completion of the. With Western Union, we pay after successful completion (to avoid excessive per-payment fees).

We're willing to pay a minimum of $80 per page, however, this rate is negotiable.

We will send you payment within 48hrs of receipt of the final pencils; 300 dpi LZW-compressed TIF

Work Process:

Typically, you'll get a script from us with a very basic suggestion of page structure and layout. However, we believe in this being a creative collaboration and you're free to make suggestions, break the page and layout down as you'd like, then send a thumbnail over.

Once approved, you can go ahead and finish up the page, we'll review, provide feedback if necessary, and then approve.

How to Apply:

Send a brief email letting us know who you are. It doesn't need to be lengthy, but if you'd like to let us know a little about yourself, please do! Be sure to include:

- Your name
- Page rate
- Links to your portfolio (please don't attach files, these won't be opened)
- It's okay if your style doesn't look much like what you see of Under a Jovian Sun, what matters is that it's fun, dynamic and beautiful

NOTE: Please do NOT post portfolio work or links to your portfolio in this thread. EMAIL US AT: thecokers [at] cokercoop.com

If we like what we see, we'll get in touch with you fairly quickly about continuing the conversation to see if we're a good creative fit, and then send over an NDA and contract.

Notes on portfolio: Please only send links to sequentials. While the work may be beautiful, we're not interested in pin-ups, illustrations or character designs as they don't tell us a lot about your ability to tell a story.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! We look forward to hearing from you and seeing what you've got!

Cheers,

Shobo Coker
