View Full Version : Wanna get paid to color dinosaurs?

Hello there! My name is Kyle. You may remember me from such ads like the one I placed in January looking for a penciler.

Remember this tidbit?
"Essentially speaking, this book can be best pitched as "Raptors in Space," or a sort of mash-up between "Jurassic Park" and "Battlestar Galactica." Sound crazy? It is. Think of those awesome SyFy channel movies with an unlimted special effects budget. It's gonna be fun!
We'll be seeing space battles, snow battles, dinosaurs with swords, devolved humans, a terraformed earth, and one particularly large fish.*

*I'm not confident about the fish appearing."**

**Fish does not appear in Issue 1

Well, that advertisement worked fantastically, and we are deep into the first issue of "Primal Instinct," looking beyond to the entirety of the first story arc, launching at Baltimore Comic Con, the submissions process (maybe NYCC), all that jazz.

Ladies and gentlemen, we need a colorist. Most importantly, I'm looking for someone to do the first issue and some promotional work, but just like last time, I'm more partial to those looking for the long term.

The opening rate will be $50/page, but as always, this is negotiable. Payment will be issued through PayPal, within five days of receiving the final, approved page.

Interested submissions may contact me through my email, KyleRaios@gmail.com - Please put RAPTORS IN SPACE in the subject line so I can spot it away from any of my spam. Plus, how many times do you get to type that phrase?

Please attach samples of SEQUENTIAL colored artwork, particularly those pieces most pertinent to the aforementioned story - I want to see what you can do with nature, and what you can do with science fiction (even better if you've got examples mixing both). Have you colored dinosaurs in comics? Show me. I like that stuff.
If you color your own pencils, tell me. If you don't, tell me.

The artist and I will be making the selection together, combing through the submissions to find the right person to join this team of ours. So what are we looking for? That's a tough question to answer. To begin, take a look here - https://www.facebook.com/PrimalInstinctComic - This is what the book is looking like with pencils and inks. We're looking for that right style to match. What exactly that is is difficult to say.

To paraphrase Justice Thomas on pornography, I'll know when I see it.

Submissions are open from the time this ad goes live unil 11:59 PM EST April 13, 2016.

You can reach me at KyleRaios@gmail.com, follow me on Twitter AND Tumblr @KyleRaios, and find me on Facebook here - https://www.facebook.com/KyleRaios. Don't forget to check out the Facebook page for the book.

One last thing - the most important things I'm looking for besides the talent is the drive, and the want to work on this project. It's all great and awesome to be looking for work and doing the work, but the right person to bring on will be someone genuinely interested in this concept. That's how we shall all bring out the best work in each other.

Happy submissions, everyone! I'm looking forward to the bombardment once more.

Hey there everyone. I just wanted to say thank you for all the submissions we receieved. It's been awesome looking at all this cool art.

At this time, I'm going to have to close the ad early. I didn't think it would happen so quickly, but it did, and it would be unfair to keep the ad up for show.

Once again, thank you everyone! Keep on making comics!
