View Full Version : Looking for Artist for YA Graphic Novel Pitch

Hey all. I'm looking for an artist to work with on a graphic novel that I want to pitch to some of the editors I know (and a lot that I don't). The first draft of the graphic novel is done (160 pages) and much of the written pitch materials are completed but what I really need are 10 pages of artwork to accompany them.

First a bit about the project and who I'm looking for. It's a post-apocalyptic coming of age story about a teenaged girl who's grown up in an enclosed community and longs to go beyond the walls of her world, and then does. With that in mind I would really like to work with a woman. I'm a bald white dude and I feel a little uncomfortable writing about growing up from a female perspective. So I need someone who can be a collaborator and keep me honest. Since the story is about a decayed world I would love to work with someone who can do a looser art style. Think Paul Pope or Jillian Tamaki. If you're a fan of dry brush we totally have to talk.

A bit about me. I run youtube.com/thecomicarchive (https://www.youtube.com/user/thecomicarchive) and have worked as an inker on indie books (https://www.comixology.com/Mike-Furth/comics-creator/39963?ref=c2VhcmNoL2luZGV4L2Rlc2t0b3Avc2xpZGVyTGlz dC9jcmVhdG9yU2xpZGVy) (and one 8 page Spider-man (http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Mike_Furth/Inker) story) throughout the years.

Rate is $90/page. I can pay via PayPal or Venmo, whichever works best for you. Half up front and half within three weeks after delivery of high res (600dpi) files via dropbox or ftp. If you don't have an 11x17 scanner we can work out something where I scan them on mine. This is just for the pitch materials. When/if we get picked up we will have to negotiate your rate with the publisher (I'm hoping we can get a better rate for you) for the rest of the art. I have a whole plan about co-ownership and making sure that all the work that you do gets you fairly paid that I'm happy to talk about that once we get down to business.

If this sounds like your jam you can send me a pm or email me at mike(at)thecomicarchive(dot)com
