View Full Version : Dr. Strange

So they have announced the director (Scott Derrickson) for the Dr. Strange movie, which moves this movie from the 'rumor' category. I'm interested to see a good story driven, trippy, Dr. strange movie, but I am not sure about this director. I've only seen one of his films, The Day The Earth Stood Still, and it was horrible. Maybe I should check out Sinister. What do you guys think?

Never seen a single one of this guy's movies, so I'll reserve judgement for the time being. I am pretty damn happy they're moving forward with this one, though. Should be a nice break from the sci-fi/political thriller stuff Marvel has been doing so far -- not that either of those is bad, but the MCU needs fleshing out before it's a reasonable counterpart to the comic book universe.

Also, I got a story up about this before Newsarama did. (http://www.blackshipbooks.com/marvels-doctor-strange-film-has-a-director/) I win. :p

Sinister was your typical contemporary horror movie schlock...but I dont think that can be blamed on the director. Hollywood horror is just lame nowadays no matter the director. I derive more satisfaction surfing indy horror on netflix than ANYTHING big budget.
Anyhow..back on track..I'm going into Dr Strange fresh eyed with a positive demeanor. Marvel movies have come a long way since Daredevil and I'm hoping the hits just keep on rollin (so long as its not the 3rd movie in a Marvel trilogy...avoid those like the plague).

So, they are apparently looking at Bendict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy for the lead role. Either would be an interesting choice, IMO...

I'm curious to see if anyone else remembers this...

Started development as a Strange movie, but the studio lost the license, so it got retitled. Jack Kirby did concept art for it.

I remember the box art, but I don't think I ever watched it.

So long as T. Rex's Mambo Sun is on the soundtrack, it'll be all right.
