Earlier today I saw the cover design for upcoming Fantasy comics album BRIAR on Twitter and immediately fell in love.

So I went to Improper Books' website and saw some preview pages. More reasons to fall in love as the artwork is deliciously European in style, and I hope the book is successful and sparks an ongoing series of albums.

Then I saw the credits in the byline and noticed our own Jim letters Briar.

So, congrats on the announcement, Jim, and best of luck to you and your team for a bright and profitable future with the book.

Thanks, chaps! :-)

If you're not familiar with Improper, you should really track down a copy of their first book, Porcelain. I lettered that one, too, but its brilliantly written and gorgeously illustrated and coloured… TBH, it's one of those jobs that's just so nice I'd have done it for free.

Cheers

Jim

(I should also say that I used Nate's Duty Calls as the base dialogue font for Porcelain -- the narrow character widths with the wide Os really suited the deco aesthetic of the book.)

Edit to add: Quick link to a preview of Porcelain here. (http://www.improperbooks.com/projects/porcelain/)
