This is a script I wrote for a contest on PencilJack. Thought I'd share it here too. Let me know what you think.

Page 1 (4 panels)

Panel 1
Nighttime establishing shot of the battlefield, a scorched plain littered with barbed wire lined trenches. The scene is also filled with explosions, gunfire, a dark, cloudy sky and troops charging ahead on both sides.

CAPTION
October 31st, 1916

CAPTION
Verdun-sur-Meuse, France

Panel 2
A medium-long side shot of the French side of the battlefield, basically a cross-section of the trenches, which are filled with soldiers. Some soldiers are shooting, while others are tending wounds, rummaging through supplies, etc.

Panel 3
Inside a trench we see a head on shot of a French soldier sitting in a trench with the battlefield behind him. The soldier is holding a bayonet armed rifle and curiously in the process of turning to see what's behind him, which would be a series of German soldiers running on the battlefield towards him, holding their own rifles, pistols, swords, etc…

Panel 4
A single German soldier, holding a sword, is leaping in mid air towards the French soldier in the trench. The French soldier now has the bayonet ready to impale the German soldier when he comes down. The German soldier has a mean face showing his teeth while the French soldier looks deathly serious.

Page 2 (4 panels)

Panel 1
Big panel at top of page. The German soldier, having come down from his leap, has just been impaled in the chest by the French soldier's bayonet inside the trench. The French soldier has a look of intensity on his face while the German soldier has a look of shock and pain. Blood squirts every which way from the wound and spits from the German soldier's mouth.

SFX
Ksssh!

Panel 2
A medium close up side shot of the moment after the impalement, with each soldier on separate sides of the panel. The French soldier is looking down with a "whew" exhausted expression on his face. The German soldier's lifeless face is slumped down with eyes closed and blood trickling down his chin.

Panel 3
Same camera angle/position as previous panel. The German soldier has just sprung to life as a vampire with beady, red eyes and gigantic fangs. He has his head up and his mouth open in a hiss while the French soldier now has an expression of shocked fear at the vampire before him.

Panel 4
A shot from behind the French soldier as he backs away from the vampire. The French soldier is in the process of drawing his sidearm while the deviously smiling vampire is nonchalantly pulling the rifle (and bayonet) from the bloody mark on his chest.

Page 3 (5 panels)

Panel 1
A medium head on shot of the French soldier firing his pistol with a slightly concerned face. His feet are slightly staggered (from having stepped back) and he aims with two hands.

SFX
Bam! (x 3)

Panel 2
Another medium head on shot, this time of the vampire. He is arrogantly in mid stride walking up to the French soldier. His face is snarling and we see three bullet holes in the chest of his jacket, where the French soldier's shots had just landed.

SFX
Pfft (x 3)

Panel 3
An angled side shot from behind the vampire as he smacks away the pistol from the French solder's hand, who has a look of fear as he eyes follow the gun flying away from him.

SFX
Slap!

Panel 4
Small panel (possibly an insert). A medium close up from behind the French soldier. His neck is in the extreme foreground while the bloodthirsty vampire, who has his beady, red eyes locked into the soldier's neck, is the main subject of the panel. His mouth is open and his teeth are exposed ready to lunge into the neck.

Panel 5
Big panel at bottom of page of the vampire sinking his teeth into the French soldier's neck. The French soldier has a sudden expression of shock and pain looking towards the sky as the vampire holds his body up. Sporadic blood is flowing down from the wound and covering both of them.

SFX
Tsssk!

Page 4 (7 panels)

Panel 1
This is the first panel in a series of three similar panels showing a progression. This first panel is a close up of the French soldier's face with the German vampire sucking on his throat (we see only the back of the vampire’s head). The French soldier's face looks drained and fatigued as if he's on the verge of death. His eyes are barely open as he looks up into the sky (which would be behind the "camera").

Panel 2 (insert to panel 1)
To the right, inside of Panel 1, we see a small shot of the cloudy sky with streaks of clouds covering up a full moon.

Panel 3
Same camera position/angle as Panel 1. The vampire is still sucking on the French soldier's neck, but now the French soldier's eyes are more open as his face is suddenly rejuvenated. Beginning a transformation, the French soldier's face has begun morphing into animal like features. His eyes are filling with black, his skin is becoming grainy, his ears are a little pointed and his teeth are starting to become jagged. He is still looking up towards the sky.

Panel 4 (insert to panel 3)
To the right, inside of Panel 3, this panel has the same camera position/angle of the clouded sky, only now the clouds have moved revealing a bit more of the full moon.

Panel 5
Same camera position/angle as Panels 1 and 2 with the vampire still on the French soldier's neck. Further along in his transformation (but not completely transformed), the French soldier barely resembles any more of his human self. His eyes are now completely black and his ears and teeth are longer and more jagged. His face, almost completely covered with hair, is more alert and almost has an expression of extreme excitement as he continues to stare up at the sky.

Panel 6 (insert to panel 5)
Same camera position/angle as the previous inserts, and now the clouds have fully passed revealing the full moon in its entirety.

Panel 7
Large panel at the bottom of the page. Medium shot of the werewolf's reveal. Having just pulled the vampire off his neck, the werewolf has his hand clutching the back of the vampire's coat. With blood dripping from his fangs and mouth, the vampire has a shocked look of surprise as the werewolf growls his nasty teeth in front of the vampire's face. Covered in fur, the werewolf looks completely monstrous with claws, long ears and a wolf like snout as he bulges from the French soldier's ripped uniform.

SFX
Grrrrr!

Page 5 (5 panels)

Panel 1
The first of a series of small action panels. A shot looking down from above the werewolf's shoulder after he has just slice down with his claw along the vampire’s face. The vampire’s face is now bleeding as he has several scratch marks across it.

SFX
Ksshh!

Panel 2
A medium close up side shot of the werewolf stomping the vampire's scratched up head (face first) into the muddy trench ground with the creature’s big, hairy foot. The camera is almost level with the ground, leaving the rest of the werewolf off panel. The vampire’s body looks awkward and contorted as its head is being crushed.

SFX
Wmph!

Panel 3
A close up of the werewolf leaning over the vampire lying in the mud (now on its back) and jabbing his claw through the vampire's throat. The vampire once again has a look of shock and surprise as blood and bits of flesh violently shoot from the wound.

SFX
Tssh!

Panel 4
Another close up, this time from the opposite angle as the previous panel, as the werewolf clutches the vampire's hair with one hand and the front of his coat with the other. The werewolf is in the process of ripping the vampire's head from the rest of his body. With blood still pouring every which way from the ripped apart throat, strands of flesh and tissue are stretched and snapping as they stress holding the body and scratched up head together. The vampire's scream echoes in the background.

SFX
Ahhhhh!

Panel 5
A large final panel at the bottom of the page of the werewolf triumphant. The headless vampire body is draped at his feet and the severed scratched up head is in his hand (held by the hair) as the werewolf leans back and let's out a howl at the full moon shimmering brightly through the clouded sky in the background.

SFX
HOOOOOOOOWL!
