This forum used to be hopping along, now it's got tumble weeds and the distant yowl of coyotes....

Oh I know..I have nothing but respect for inkers...its very challenging, and i'm terrible at it :P..I just had an overwhelming urge to quote Chasing Amy.

I used to post a lot but eventually I realized I only got the occasional "good job" or something like that. Being active on message boards takes time and I decided to spend that time inking. I know post only on my blog and facebook where a lot more people see my work but yeah, it's a shame, there used to be a good group of guys that posted on a regular basis and they're now gone.

I've been working as an inker. Not much I can share here, but I may be able to share a thing or three...

I find inking others pencils is a rather tedious work.
even when tracing or embellishing them.

What I really like is to do the inking over my own pencils.
I feel more organic to do the finishing of my own pencils with ink.
I can bring embellishment to pencils with textures and some touches of improvisation.
Giving the definition I want to see in the pencils.
Also, when paid for pencils and ink separately, is good to be paid for doing both.
And keep the originals. IMHO.

I was going to go on a huge rant about how inkers should stray from tracing because if all you do is trace the pencils then what's the point? But then I asked myself the same question and that is just it. What's the point? Everyone has their own style. Some people straight trace and some people embellish with their own style. Whatevs. Do YOU.
