Just trying a few things for some possible projects...

Readable while tiny?

They work equally well on white background.

The one I'm most worried about is the second. Does it look at all like a back issue box (comic box) from the side? Hrmm. Probably not at all.

If any of the rest is unclear or unreadable to eyes other than mine, it'd help to know. :B

As a bonus, here's an icon I sent to a company (low res preview) to show what kind of work I could do for them if hired.

Found out recently they cut it out and have been using it! :slap:

I'm getting very confidant in my logo making abilities, so any Earth-shattering revelations about huge problems I'm missing would be appreciated.

A bit more stuff done to the crap and whatnot.

The Back Issue Box thing may not look like a box yet, but I squished it down a tad and I think it at least looks more like it than the last try - which isn't saying much I guess.

I like these! The Back Issue one looks nice, but it took me a good five minutes to figure it out (which, to be fair, might say as much about me as about the logo). Given the choice between the two of them, I prefer the first Horrorverse one. Nice and... splatter-y. :)

Oh, and clever touch with the M!

The Back Issue Box thing may not look like a box yet, but I squished it down a tad and I think it at least looks more like it than the last try - which isn't saying much I guess.

Logo 1 - I like the concept of this logo but it's too vague and looks like you just added the price sticker. Make it look more like the real thing.

http://www.yojoe.com/images/resize/w/MAX/action/85/85card/snakeeyes2.jpg

Logo 2 - I first thought this logo had something to do with music or the ocean. The logo should resemble the real thing more. Try redesigning the logo based off the below picture.

http://www.howtolovecomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/comic-box.jpg

Logo 3 - This looks more like text (copy) than an actual logo. Try stacking VERSE under HORROR and pick a better font.

Three words when designing a logo for a sub-culture/industry: research...research...research. Look at what is the established design and design your logo to fit in.

Logo 4 - I like this one but it needs 1's and 0's (100111001) between the B and T and above the ES. Reinforce the computer theme and make it more graphical.

Logo 5 - I like the overall look of this logo but there's a few things that need fixing.

1) The entire logo is bland due to it being monochromatic. Make the heart red. 8-bit games always had red hearts.

2) Not sure if I like the drop shadow on the heart. Try it without it.

3) Get rid of the islands around N, U and L. They are very distracting.

4) The indentations of the outlines are a bit distracting. The top and right sides are at odds with the bottom and the left sides. They draw the reader's eye toward the outside and away from the logo's center. This makes it harder to read.

Keep up the good work and post more of your logos.

Durf!

The heart came out browner than in Illustrator, an easy fix.

The last one isn't really for my own project, I attached it to my third query about that company paying me for using the icon. (With watermarks.) Hope to sweeten the pot and bring them around to replying with a better design. :P

Those are all really nice. I especially like the BIB logo now.

Cool, I'm getting there. :D

As for other logos, I'm slowly uploading them to http://slimebeast.com/art/logos

There are hundreds scattered all over everywhere on my computer... some I wouldn't necessarly want to show off these days. Heh. (In fact I think a couple like that snuck in already.)

Indeedy-doo! Don't know what's up, I've been missing keystrokes all night.

O_o

Looking at them again, I'm going to have to go through and re-save them on better backgrounds, in better sizes, etc.

Meh.

Really impressive logos, also very impressive how well you interpret feedback and implement it. I wish I could do stuff like this as well as you. All of these look pretty top notch.

Noob question: do you have to be careful what font you use when creating these logos (are there copyright issues and such)?

Edit: My post has too much praise in it... uhh... you stink and I hate you.

Yeah, I collect interesting fonts that are okay to use. If by any chance I ever find out it's not okay to use (like the site or CD changed their license) It'd probably be a case where I'm not doing commercial business with the font and it'd be fine (like a forum logo). Failing that, you gotta pay the piper! XD

Thanks for the kind words, you stink and I hate you too!

BIB logo is much better now. It might benefit from a slight horizontal squish, since it's slightly wider than the real thing, but it gets the point across and looks cool!

EDIT: Wait, I suck at logos. Why am I giving you advice again?

I like the logo revisions a lot. I would suggest creating an alternate version of the BIB logo with a single comic popping up. My only concern about the logo is the it might be too uniform.

The Horrorverse logo is still my least favorite of the bunch.

Good work on the revisions.

Finally got a reply and worked out a deal in the jellyfish logo, so I made a few options for them to use.

That Jellyfish logo is great...!

I don't understand/can't read the Mint in Package logo... The last version of Back Issue Box is much more understandable to my eyes, really liked the Horrorverse on the black background, love the Comicbytes. I do not know what Bonus Lives is, but the design makes me think of gambling... Just my tourist thoughts.

They are all pretty!

CHWolf

Well, a Bonus Life is sort of another (less popular) term for an Extra Life or 1UP in a game. :B

I was originally going to do a webcomic with the URL, "Bonus Lives", about a video game world like the Mushroom Kingdom socked with a recession - but nowadays I figure it'd be more suiting to some other sort of gaming site.

THE END.
