I wanted to let everyone know about two lettering related sites that I created or designed.

The first is LETTERING LIBRARY and it's dedicated to showing examples of lettering, sound effects, fonts and such. It's a great resource (or will be) for seeing what other letterers have done.

The second site is called SUPERTYPE! and I created it for its owner (4CP | Four Color Press (http://4cp.posthaven.com/)). The original site is hosted on Posterous (http://supertype.posterous.com/) but they're shutting down on April 30th.

The great thing about both blogs is that readers can submit content to them.

So head over to both and start reading and submitting!

Hacking?! I don't think that term applies here. My goal is to raise the bar for lettering by showing what has been done by others.

How would this be hacking? It's a gallery of examples...

I see nothing wrong with it as long as the letterer is named, as they are when you click on the individual examples.

I'll try to be more specific.
Can't this be used for hacking?
I mean a catalogue with all the SFX already created by great masters of comics hand-lettering.
Trace, cut, align, paste, using the same color or different color. Next.

I think that'd be way more work than doing your own. Who'd have time for that? This is like looking at art in a gallery. Sure, you could set up your easel and copy a masterpiece, but nearly everyone would find that too much work. Better to paint your own.
