So anyone seen it yet? I thought that it was good movie. Ben Affleck did a great job directing it. He managed to build up and sustain the suspense throughout the movie, and did a fantastic job recreating the look and feel of the era that the event took place in. Still, I find it as a predictable, overly romanticized account of the real event. It also feels quite uneven by portraying the whole sum of the Iranian people as the 'bad guys' due to the lack of any real antagonist. The main starring role should have been given to a much better actor than Affleck himself, preferably Clooney or Gosling. Affleck did a passable job, but he didn't bring any intensity to the role.

It's a bit scattered in that the very funny Hollywood send-up waters down the very disturbing idea of hostages/execution - and vice versa - but great film either way.

After all, that's how it it really was - Hollywood farce, life-or-death struggle!

There were a few throw-away explanations, like "we harbored the guy who abused them", and all - so while they do indeed end up coming across like "scary different-looking crazy guys" there's at least the slightest attempt to say - hey - we did kind of fuck them over to start.
