Zero Dark 30

I totally saw this with mix emotions...I thought it might be cheesy or overtly propaganda like, but it was surprisingly well done and actually takes place over a 12 year time span. There are some brutal scenes and uncomfortable moments but I found nothing sensationalized. It was more of a gritty, reality laden film.

Curious on other peoples thoughts

Heard it was boring for the first 48 mins of the movie but over all good.

Heavily based on actual events within the CIA...so yeah.

Apparently they had been prepping this movie for years on how Bin Laden would never be caught and as they were getting ready to film...well...he got caught and killed.

Boring pointless flick with some foreign actors barely able to contain their accents. Not an ounce of tension. Bigelow needs to go work under Da Beard or someone who knows how to build and maintain tension. I knew the moment my wife wanted to see if i'd be snoozing on it. If they call that torture they need to go visit John McCain and some POW's or some old Mafia Enforcers on how to Torture

Uh...McCain did give his opinion that it was torture...and was promptly told to go eat a dick.

Which he obliged, thus the results of the 2008 election.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm really interested in it. I've read everything I can get my hands on about how the whole operation came to pass, and it's a pretty cool story. Glad to hear they didn't gloss over all the events that went into getting the intel and whatnot. The "boring" parts are actually a big part of what are compelling to me. If you just focus on the mission of going after him, you're turning a really significant event into a Hollywood action movie, which is far less interesting to me personally.

If it doesn't have multiple endings then I'll stick with Black Ops II.

Rumor has it that the DVD will have Deleted Scenes. In one of them, Osama shouts "WHAT'S ALL THAT NOISE ARE THOSE DAMNED KIDS BACK ON MY LAWN" then trips and falls down the stairs.

Another alternate ending reveals that 9/11 was an inside job perpetrated by the US government and Jesse Ventura saves everyone from the Illuminati...dressed up like he was in Predator!

Pretty lame name for a movie. They should have named something like "Death Force Seven"

Do we have to watch the first 29 Zero Dark's in order to understand what happens in this movie?

Would it kill them to name the movie Around Twelve Thirty at Midnight?

Zero=ground zero, Dark=night or wetworks or both, 30=time to get it done.

Here's something I find interesting.

Oh yeah, spoiler-fucking-alert:

"They bring his body back to a U.S. base in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, where Maya awaits. She views the body and visually confirms it is bin Laden."

Wasn't the official position that Bin Laden's body was dumped at sea on their way back to US controlled territory? So how come this contradiction wasn't made a point of contention? (even if you go by the "it's just a fictional account", let's just say naysayers have made far more out of far less).

Also about the name:
"Bigelow has explained that "it's a military term for 30 minutes after midnight, and it refers also to the darkness and secrecy that cloaked the entire decade-long mission."
