View Full Version : Karen Berger leaving Vertigo

After reading various posts yesterday and then these articles on Tor.com and Publisher's Weekly this morning about Karen Berger leaving Vertigo, I'm hoping that something great (a new comic book company perhaps?) will be starting up next year with Karen in a key role.
She seems to be a great person to work with, and I'm just getting started.... :har:

I hope she starts something new too. It would have to be out of continuing passion for the medium, though...with 30+ years in the business and what has to be a sizable severance package, she likely doesn't need to do it for a living at this point.

Ms. Berger and Vertigo as a whole have been the red-headed step-children since DC restructured, revised contracts on creator-owned comics, etc. If I were her I would have left several years ago. Screw it.

The same way DC didn't like to credit the writers and the artists with the success of any given title, I feel that they were uneasy about just how important she was as an editor, and as a force behind Vertigo.
It's a shame, 'cause I don't thing the imprint will survive without her (or the least it will get MUCH more corporate minded).

I'm just hoping she'll keep working in the medium.
