Name sounds familiar, is she an old school DW member who's been gone a long time?

I knew she was doing the Smallville comic. Didn't realize they had her doing work on a mainstream DCnU title as well.

Just checked the preview at Marvin's link. Yikes.

I mean, Cat's pencils are fine, but the inks and colors are HORRIBLE. I'm talking inks of Liefeldian proportions, and the colors? Even most television animation has better shading.
EXTREMELY amateur. They should have just given Cat some leadway and had her do all the art chores on the book.

The interior scares me only because if I want to push myself I don’t think looking at that will, especially from a DC comic. I’m saying, I honestly could’ve done the same thing and get eggs thrown at me especially if people here knew I did it, and at the same time I would’ve inked and colored it differently to make it look better that’s why certain things I just don’t rush to do it, even when I’m offered to do it, that’s just me. As for the writing I'm not commenting on that because I didn't read it, and I'm not talking about the pencils, I dig the penciling.

Hey guys! I just saw this! Thanks so much. I just completed the last issue last week. Issue three came out today. It was a dream come true.

Glad you had fun on it, and hope it leads to more such work. I just hope they put you in with better inkers and colorists next time. Your art deserves it.

Ha Now I see why they would have a hard time inking you. That's a tough buncha pages to ink. Nice pencils though but hell to ink. Al Williamson would have nailed it. He was the one who inked a lot of John Romita Jr's Daredevil stuff along with Rick Leonardi's Spiderman 2099.

That doesn't explain the colors though.

colors match the inks more or less. Probably went a bit harsh on her face in that last panel. colorist will have seen the inks and only the inks. The pencils pretty much never get passed alone for the colorist to see the original intent. If they had, they could have matched the shading/contours implied in the pencils.

But the inks don't really match. Totally different style.

Pencils look great!

Agreed. Those pencils are awesome. I was less than impressed by the inks.

Cat, have you thought about inking your own work?

Cat

Hey Cary

I have but that was not an option for this particular book. I do my own on my web strip and on the Smallville covers when i don't go straight to colors from pencils. I probably would have rendered much like Mahmud does on Supergirl.

Amazing pencils and i agree the inks kind of muddy up the details a bit.
