Thanks... I knew the characters needed to POP from one another and felt that would be the best route to go, not knowing if I would ever get it colored or not... which as I was lucky enough, one of my colorists did indeed do... here's that piece colored.

The way to pull off thick outlines is to use ultra thin interior lines.

This is not bad, but too many lines of similar thickness, especially on the interior lines. Flattens out the entire image, and makes the eye work OT to follow.

Look at the interior line variations in the pencil stage, particularly the hair, and compare it to the inks. The inked hair lines on the back figure are the same thickness as some of the front figure outlines.
