Otakon 2009 Chalk Art Mural by Eric Maruscak

Once again, another weekend, another convention, and another chalk art mural. This time it was the Otakon in Baltimore, an Anime/Manga/Japanese Culture convention that is one of the craziest things I have been to.

This was my second year making a chalk mural for the show, and this time it was a recreation of the program cover with original artwork by Chamba of Udon Entertainment. Over the course of 26 hours I finished this 9 foot wide by 12 foot tall mural and rubbed my fingers raw. But at the end of the show we were able to stand it up and I got final photos that made it all worth it.

I work on the sketch in my dining room, it fills the floor from wall to wall.

Nearing the end of day two and the color is progressing nicely.

We stand the completed mural up at the end of the show and I am able to get a great final photo with me in it to reference scale.

Thanks man, much appreciated! I was really happy with this one by the time I finished. Anime is not my usual style, but I actualy think I came pretty close in the reproduction. :banana:
