I´ve had it with my site! :yuk:
%&$!!
First I lost access to my e-mail account last year, then I couldn´t access my control pannel and, as of tonight I can´t even upload images to my ftp anymore (in this latest development, my FTP became "read-only").
Do you know of any cheap services that provide image storage?
It must allow direct linking as I use my FTP for many different things, from posting images in message boards like this to providing URLs to my clients so they can download their pages.
´elp...

doesn't photobucket offer a imaging hosting that's free and you can pay to use.
wish you would have taken my advice when we last talked about changing web host then.
sorry, buddy. if want some help I'll give you a hand.

Highly recommended: Dropbox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dropbox_(storage_provider))

And now it seems my site´s been hacked.
YAAY....
And of course tech support is nowhere to be reached...
Thanks, Paul, I´m really glad I can count on you.
And Aaron, thank you so much for the link, I´ll definitely check it out.
Like the poet used to say... "why make it simple when you can have it complicated?".

Zeu, very sorry to hear about the tech issues + hacking. That stinks!
In terms of cheap hosting plans that would provide FTP storage capabilities....I have used 1&1 and Dreamhost which are both really cheap and am currently using GoDaddy which is a little more expensive, but super-easy to use when hosting a domain + purchasing a domain.
Best of luck!

Hacked? It looks like the domain name expired and was picked up by one of those junk things.

Thanks, Gil.
D.J. Coffman speaks the world of Dreamhost, so I may try just that.
Mecha - yeah, I am completely lost here. I payed to renew my site/domain just 2 months ago and now this happens... I am done with Swiftlayer.

Swiftlayer is the worst. No doubt about it.

You´ve got that right.
D´oh!
Dreamhost appears to be for US folks-only.
Guess I´ll have to go with GoDaddy or Dropbox.
I just want an ftp to store my stuff.............

Thanks, Ljamal.
Are they reliable? Swiflayer left me pretty down.
I´m not even looking for a website anymore, at this stage just a box would do... something where I can drop my drawings so I can hotlink them.

Dropbox is actually ideal for that and it's much more secure (imho). No need for client software and much more intuitive for average person to work with.

I've used them for the last 3 years. Any problem I've had, they've been able to remedy quickly. I host close to 10 web sites with them. Space and bandwidth have never been a problem.

Thanks, Ljamal, I´m gonna have to check that thoroughly.
Aaron, thank you as well, I´ve installed dropbox for now but I must confess I am a bit concerned with the idea of having a share folder in my computer, isn´t there a ristk of someone starting to look around into my other folders?

For low res stuff to post and share on email and message boards, photobucket is great, although it could be a bit more simplified, user wise. But for high res stuff, instead of ftp on a site, check out box.net. Super easy.

Oh dear... You stayed with them?!
I gave them too many chances and still jumped ship to 1and1.com this past summer. I've had no problem whatsoever, just renewed for another 6 months. Swiftlayer I was having problems every other week (no exaggeration). And everyone here who migrated from Ron's hosting service can confirm that Swiftlayer has been nothing but problematic.
You read plenty about DJ liking Dreamhost, yet somehow missed the tons of anti-Swiftlayer posts? You poor man. You've been working too hard ;)

Can someone tell me how to cancel with them? I want to move to a new host before they go and bill me for another month.

The user only sees a reflection of that specific folder that you've given permissions for.
From their site:
"We take utmost care to ensure Dropbox is secure. All transport of file data and file metadata occurs over SSL. All files are encrypted with AES-256 before being stored on our backend."
* Any file in your Public folder is accessible to anyone who can guess your public file link and the path to the file. No one can browse the directory, though.
* Any file in your Dropbox outside of the Public folder is by default only accessible via computers linked to your account or to you via the web interface.
* If you give out a shareable link to a portion of your Photo Gallery, people who know the link will be able to browse any photos in the album you linked from (and albums inside it)

Tell 'em to fuck off?
I just started a ticket telling them I'd be leaving and not to bill me (you can chose the topic of the ticket. Just put it under 'billing').
