Any Robert Heinlein fans here? I just found my old copy of Tunnel in the Sky, which I hadn't read since middle school. I've only read a few of his other books: Starship Troopers, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, and Stranger in a Strange Land.

Man, what a fun writer. The guy's imagination and perceptivity are fantastic. His works seem more exploratory than explanatory; he's just seeing where they'll go. In one book he extolls the virtues of a militaristic neostoic semi-fascist republic, in another he is just as enthusiastic about self-determination by the proletariat. And he always has interesting insights into morals, ethics, duty, and belief.

So, anyone wanna talk good old-fashioned sci-fi?

Oh boy that brings back memories.... He was on of my intro authors to science fiction back in high school. Tunnel in the Sky, Starship Troopers... read those and really liked them. Did he also write Podkayne of Mars? That was such a good book. I still have some Heinlein paperbacks... I'd have to go look which ones.... Seems to me he wrote a few other that I read...

Have Space Suit, Will Travel - damn good book
Rocket Ship Galileo
Space Cadet
The Puppet Masters - think I read this one 10 times...
