View Full Version : Most underutilized villain this decade?

I'd have to call a tie between Kang the Conqueror and Mandarin.

Despite Kang's brief moment of greatness in Young Avengers and the questionable handling of Mandarin in DoS, these two are kick ass villains that have languished the last 8 years.

Any others?

Mister Sinister, he played a major role in Messiah Complex, but was always behind the scenes. Now he's playing a major role in X-Men: Legacy, but in a non-corporeal form. Before that, nothing big since the 90's really.

Electro???

Are you kidding?

I HATE New Avengers, but he was instrumental in that story as well as Millar's Marvel Knights Spider Man.

I always liked the Scorpion. Sucks that they made Mac Gargan the new Venom, though.

Dr. Doom.

I can't agree with this one either. Mark Waid spent a year with Doom kicking the FFs asses and the power vacuum left with Doom gone from Latveria.

BATROC ZE LEAPAIR!

You know you miss him AND his mustaches. The most flamboyant savate-master terrorist of them all!

In the last 8 years, or before? I don't recall that.

Waid's run was from 2002-2005

This is a personal one, and he's not purely a villain. He's popped up here and there... in Moon Knight, in Avengers: The Initiative, etc. but not in a role you'd call pivotal.

Taskmaster.
Ever since the Udon mini, I've wanted to see more of this guy on his own. He can mimic any fighting/athletic/weaponry move that he sees once, I think he's a little wasted keeping him in that teacher role forever.

Venom (AKA the greatest comic book character EVER) has been under used since his creation. ESPECIALLY in the early 90's...it was like the character didn't even exist!

If only I could see Venom at least once a month on the cover of a Marvel mag. Preferably drawn so that his head looks like a grape sitting a top a mountain.

If only.

I´m gonna go with Wonder Woman´s Circe.

She could use some more exposure, she´s barely ever used.... :sure: :har:

I said this on another post...but Mad Man from PAD's run on The Incredible Hulk.

I loved that character (He only showed up three times I think) but come on. He was someone with the IQ of Banner but had the strength to beat out The Hulk.

Also his human form had a crush on Banner so thats always an interesting dynamic. I just hate how when a Hulk writer comes in they always use The Leader (Almost every writer), Abomination (Joe Kelly...(I think..the guy who took over from PADs first run)), Tyrannus (John Bryne...) but never Mad Man.

Who's that? Is this some kind of joke? It's one thing to list a villain that is underutilized, it's another thing to list one that no one can even recognize!

i interpreted the word underused to mean" what villians do you like?"
Magneto.

I want to see him in every comic ever made. Action Magneto, Detective Magneto, Archie Magneto.

Black Adam.
Although the more he's used the more my band mates get twitchy anuses.....that film better not get made..or its new band name time.

Lex Luthor
all-star villian.

Gigantress....imagine the size of the barn on this chick?

Every villain used in New Avengers.

Ah, we are going the sarcastic route then...

The Hood, oh he never gets used...

And the Skrull thing, They havent made a single appearance in the last 3 years.

(Joe Kelly...(I think..the guy who took over from PADs first run)) Joe Casey. Joe Kelly did write an Abomination story, but it wasn't in Hulk.

Just a few years ago he skinned his own girlfriend to make a magical leather armor suit!

He made a kinda sorta appearance in the first arc of Meltzer's JLA run. It was more a "Hey! Remember THIS GUY?" cameo than anything.

Mandarin just got revamped in the Daniel and Charles Knauf Iron Man run. So, I'm not sure if I'd qualify him as underutilized. I mean he can't be the same old Mandarin he used to be because today's comic buyers expect more modern and sophisticated stories.

I'd put my stamp behind Venom, Shocker, Boomerang, Speed Demon to a lesser extent, Rhino, Hydroman, Blob, General Zod, hell I can put most of Superman's rogues gallery in this list minus Lex Luthor, and Brainaic.

So why would The Rouges and Deathstroke, be on a list of Underutilized.
