This is a challenge between Newt and LGM (LilGreenMan).

The topic is Thor
The medium is whatever but it must be a Sketchcard.

Curious - can anybody participate in challenge draw-offs, or is it just a one-on-one deal? I'm guessing that anyone can and the two people named just have to participate, but wasn't sure based on the way the guidelines are worded....

that's really up to the challengers

Well this one is kind of based on a specific chat me and Newt had so it's just us (and Dano but he chickened out). It's to define the outcome of an intelligent argument.

Ah, cool. May the best man (or lizard) win! :)

If you feel like challenging someone contact them and then contact the mod to get it posted. I used to love those in the old days. MMA with art!

This is gonna be close- I had a bunch of personal crap come up over the weekend, so I have to do mine on my lunch break. Yours looks good, Geo- you even made him Norwegian Pink!

:whistlin: No rush :)

I'm more interested in seeing how you utilize the small space as per our conversation.

That's good, 'cause I'm going to miss this deadline. I'm actually working on two pieces, a 'busy' one and a 'minimalist' one, to try to illustrate what I was talking about.

Okee doke, all in fun :)

Poorly executed for sure, but I hope it gives you an idea of what I was talking about. Busy card coming later (not tonight); I've gotten caught up in designing a font for it.

I have to thank you for prompting me to finally get back to painting. I haven't touched a brush since New Years.

Pretty nice. I see you used dual colors for the skin. Can't wait to see the busy one (I almost drew the thor font onto my card)

Hmm. This appears to be a semi-private high stakes battle.

Now, I paid good money for these seats, so I DEMAND to know the wager before I cast my vote! :man:

Otherwise, this is not a true MMA art battle. It would just be a mere chicken scratch squabble, not worthy of my favor or vote.

And for that, I would just toss you the unpopped kernels from my popcorn bag. :nyah:

Really nice artwork, guys. :)

Thanks, Scaley. I'm afraid I have to forfeit, as I missed the deadline and my piece is subpar. Now I know I have to train harder for the next bout!

Err, I guess my response disappeared. The gist was that I'm happy to participate in another draw-off, but I'd rather hold off on the size restriction until I get back into the swing of painting small. My skill has just ebbed away, and I've got to build it back!

Two years ago I painted a series of about 50 plants, animals, and fungi at approximately life size; they ranged from a 3' long snapping turtle to a 3/4" long physid snail. Here's an example of a small piece; it's about 1 1/4" across:

I can't paint like that anymore. My fingers are too clumsy!

Yeah my comments disappeared as well. Of course my responses should have told you I read your comment and that I did vote for you.

Then you notified me that you voted for me. All of a sudden the posts all disappeared. I took it as a sign. So when everything was ok I was able to vote again. Not being one to flirt with destiny I voted for myself this time round.

Yet my vote is still registered. Hmmm....

In any case, I'm going to go ahead and throw down another challenge, this time open to all Premium Members. I'll shoot off a PM to Jamal in a few minutes here. The re-imagines are fun, but I'd like to see more straight-up draw-offs, like we used to have.

Calloway

Draw offs are nice but in multiple groups there essentially the re imagines.

I like the gun fight feel of challenges (all in good fun of course). A showdown brought on by one artist to another. Or, dare I say, one writer to another challenging each other to draw!

Newt

Except that they aren't re-imagines. The emphasis is all on execution, not on concept. I understand that it's a different dynamic from a one-on-one challenge, but it allows more competition. No reason we can't have both.

The re imagines are a mix of re-imagining and just drawing the same ole character. I totally get what your saying and I agree. No tier stuff though, that was a killer. When Jamal initially took over this area we had a draw off draw off. We'd be in teams and each week people would be voted off the teams with each new round. It was hectic.

I came in a little too late for that. I was hoping there would be another, but apparently that is just not to be.

I really got into those tournaments. I just don't seem to get excited about the smaller draw offs.
