So I was on The Wraith website, and I saw something that had me interested.

Global Champions #1

by Dirscherl, Martino, Story, Fuchs, Danford, Bird, Austin & ?

ON SALE 2009!

The independent superhero team to rival the JLA/Avengers, featuring members The Wraith, Shadowflame, Johnny Saturn, Axiom-man, Bluewing and Gullveig.

The first three characters I have heard of, the last three I am not.

So who wants to give up some info?

I can help a bit.

The Global Champions is initially going to be a long comic or short graphic novel oneshot. It is going to have several different art teams, and it is going to be similar to the old JLA or JSA stories where the team breaks into different groupings for different tasks. I'll be doing some of the art and writing.

There is also a prose novel planned with this, written by AP Fuchs, that will feature the same team but with a different storyline.

We'll probably finish ironing out the details pretty soon.

Allow me to add to my esteemed colleague's update: Gullveig will not be part of GC. There are two other females being considered, "culled" if you will from public domain. Scott drew up some wonderful concept art for these characters on his MySpace page:

The new Bluewing that will be in GC will make an appearance in the Wraith #6, you can also check out that Free Preview on my webpage sagaofbluewing.com hat has a 4 page lead-in to that story, there's also an Axiom-man preview in there as well. I believe you can also read an Axiom-man one-shot on Wowio.com.

I am curios why you would go public domain. I think it would be more helpful, to send out "invites" to creators here.

Hey Marv, thanks for checking this out. Our way of thinking was, we had all the characters/creators we wanted involved in this initial project (and we may build it up at a later stage to include more characters/creators, but I think it's best to start with a manageable group and work our way up from there, rather than start really big and let things get out of hand right from the start). We also didn't want our group to be nothing but a bunch of guys, so we thought at least one female character was needed, but one we had total control over. Hence the public domain link, which we thought would be rather cool too.

Sounds good.

This project will likely be delayed for sometime, due to scheduling conflicts. Novelist AP Fuchs is still working on the Global Champions novel, however.
