I got a call tonight from the cousin of one of friends telling me that my friend Roger was in intensive care in a hospital in Las Vegas and is not expected to live. He checked himself into Spring Valley Hospital with flu like symptoms and after being in the hospital for a day his kidneys failed. Now he's in some sort of coma and isn't expected to live much longer. I asked his cousin if anyone was taking care of his animals and he said that the Las Vegas animal control came to his apartment and found his animals and had to destroy them. Which upset me even more. I guess after being locked up for a few days they turned on each other and had to be put to sleep. I'm going to try to see him before he goes, but I guess he won't even know I'm there, but right now if he does die he will die alone in the hospital which for some reason really really upsets me. I talked to him on last on Feb. 13th and he checked himself into the hospital on the 14th, and I just found out today.

I am so sorry.
gosh thats so terrible. Go, be with him and even if he is not awake you'll be there with him and thats all that counts. I'm praying for him and you.

That sucks :(

I hope they do determine what he has (even if they can't save him), maybe the knowledge will be able to save someone else at least...

Roger didn't have health insurance. I bet he just had the flu and was avoiding going to the doctor because he didn't want to go to the emergency room. It sounds stupid but I bet he just though it was no big deal until it was too late.

You both will be in my prayers tonight....don't give up on your friend. Go and see him if at all possible. People in comas often know more than you would think, if you are able to go and see him, just speak to him as if he was awake. Keep a positive attitude.

Ah, man, nothing saddens me more than when someone checks out from something that perhaps could have been curtailed with treatment. I hate that.

I asked his cousin if anyone was taking care of his animals and he said that the Las Vegas animal control came to his apartment and found his animals and had to destroy them. Which upset me even more. I guess after being locked up for a few days they turned on each other and had to be put to sleep.

Damn, dude...I take it his animals weren't mere puppies or kittens?

I am very sorry to hear about your friend and everything that has happened over the past few days. I would definitely go to the hospital today and check on him, for yours and his comfort.
