Am I the only one that just doesn't get the Marvel Zombie thing?
I love Zombies and I love Marvel, but I don't see the appeal of "zombifying" superheroes. It just seems dumb.
Anybody with me?....anybody?

I think it's kinda silly.

SO you appreciate this?
I don't really like zombies anyway, jus not my thing, so zombiefying the Marvel U entirely seemed kinda stupid to me too. A big SO WHAT? factor and then nothing.
There's got to be a better use for zombies and a better use for heroes. :)

I think the covers of the issues are kinda funny / cool....but that's not close to making me want to buy them. From what I've read... Meh. Not even clever, kinda predictable in fact...

I agree with you, I don't see the appeal in it at all.

it was a gimmick aimed after the build up of zombie popularity in films...they'll strike just as the popularity dwindles.

Well, first it's a play on the old term for marvel fans (Marvel Zombies).
Second, it's supposed to be silly. It doesn't take itself seriously at all. It's just a goofy comic book.

I can't say, I am only insulting the premise, not the work as I haven't read it. Does it try to pull off what Shaun of the Dead managed?

If it's silly it could be fun. I was afraid they made a serious attempt at it. Silly would be fun.

Um...that's kind of the point.
It was a silly experiment that revitalized their licensing department, so now its become serious money.
HALF of all mechandise sold over the last year, I'd bet was Marvel Zombie stuff. It's exploded, even though the comic isn't that good.

I just discovered Marvel Zombies.
I've been reading the whole series at work today. Pretty funny stuff.

I've enjoyed the entire Marvel Zombie run. Just fun dark humor from characters you don't expect it from. I would definately dig a MZ toon movie.

It started out really fun but had the worst case of "I don't know how to end this" that I've read in a long time. And it was never really scary or intense the way 30 Days of Night was, it was more like a throwback to the Fred Hembeck Destroys the Marvel Universe type of book.

Yeah, for 5 of the comics.

He doesn't show up in the first series, but there was a second series out with Ash as the main character versus the Marvel Zombies. I read the first three issues, but it weaves in and out of the original series. Personally, I LOVED the original Ultimate FF issues where the zombie heroes first appeared. Magneto's such a badass!

I know this thread is about the movie but I just finished the trade...I don't get why everyone is so excited. I thought it was terrible.
I'll pass.
I do enjoy The Walking Dead by Kirkman but that's it. I'm not a fan of his other books.

...i've made it a point to pick up all of the marvel zombie books/crossovers...
...i simply enjoy this series....(especially the cover art)....the horror...the humor...(the zombie issues of Black Panther stand out as the most humorous to date)...
....i think the fact that it is really DIFFERENT from anything we've seen from Marvel in the past....(take it from someone who's been following the exploits of these characters since 1974)...
.....plus i've always wanted to see some kind of parallel universes ala DC
for marvel....i know we've had earth x and the ultimate universe and the heroes reborn universe and the new universe..the what if? universe...Spidergirl universe ...squadron supreme.. spiderman 2099.ect...ect...
....wow they have done some work in that realm...
...i guess i just want to see some some more exploration into say..
earth 34 spiderman or the captain americas of the earth 14-78...and have them cross over into the regular MU...( in some sort of mini-series ala marvel zombies)...
...sure it sounds pretty lame...but i would imagine there could be some really fun stories marvel could tell...
....plus spidermans brand new day can then be said to exist on earth 69...
...and we all get what we want...

Yeah, because that's what it was supposed to be.
Well compare that to the creepy atmosphere of their first appearance in Ultimate FF and it is a little disappointing.

i really enjoyed the original appearence as well, when i think they were supposed to be scary.
thats partly because Reed turned up in the alternate reality that was supposed to be the reg. marvel U (we all knew it wasnt gonna be) but then we get this demolished city and this group of super hero carcasses, v nice.
i always figured they were gonna be labelled as the ultimate frightful four. i cant remember if they did that actually? did they?
i read marvel zombies from time to time, but i'd like to see a serious version of this with the same tone as thaty UFF story waaay back
