Everyone knows robin....give a one sentence description of him, not as he is but as what he was originally intended before the first artist ever drew him...because that name, ugh that name is so stupid...robin...all I can think of is a bird suit.

The European bird called "robin" was originally called "Robin Red-breast" because it has a red breast and the then-common given name Robin also started with an R (the same process is evident in the name of the flower Johnny Jump-up). The character Robin was given his name both in reference to Robin Hood (thus the Merry Man-themed costume) and because it is the name of a flying creature, thus complementing Batman.

The American robin was named after the European robin because it also has a red breast, but the two birds are not otherwise very similar and are not closely related.

This useless information is brought to you by Newt.

But how does the air speed of a laden American Robin compare to the airspeed of the laden European Robin?

funny thing is i went after the actual BIRD robin in wiki-pedia today for refrences, sadly it was fuckin useless, the bird was so small and fragile for any refrences, why did they call him robin anyway?
oh, robin hood! blakh!

and there is no possible way they can carry coconuts is there?

Newt

European robins are even smaller than European swallows. The American robin, while larger, is still not large enough to carry a coconut. Sorry.

will you guys stop talking and post your pics?...
...
...
ok here;s mine, as i said before i'm re-imagining the whole batman world for my self and making comics out of it, so far i have the plot for 3 volumes.
my world of baman is really freakish and dark and crazy and wild,
anyway,

first theory: robin is an actual robin(bird) in batman, bruce wayne keeps it in a big akwarium like cage and he enjoys it's voice every morning he gets up, alfred had bought it for his birthday...

lame?
didn't like it?
fucked up?
ok here's the second theory: :D

i never truly enjoyed robin, i mean i love timdrake, he sports, i like him, but in my batman universe tim drake is a comic book store owner, nothing more...
so we go to the biggest jerk in the universe------> JASON (fuckin) TODD!

YUP, HE'S ROBIN, and in my universe, batman never had a partner named robin, jason is a troubled youth, having anger management, suffering dipression, he has lost his purpose in life, he's a brutal vigilante, a high tempered batman wanna be, he usually causes batman a lot of trouble and is considered to be his rival in crime fighting, he undrestands no moral in being a hero, criminals are often more afraid of him than batman, cuz if they face batman the worst that could happen to them is broken bones, but when they face robin the least the may face is death, robin also is jelous of batman for everything bats has and they get into a fight every now and then so he can proove that he's better, he has domestic issues too, his father is an alcoholic who died after his involvement in beating jason's mom, (yes, he killed his father), and her mother is a tramp.

as for the design, i got the cape off, he doesn't need the cape, i made him a nice cevlar armor with his traditional (R) and japaneese buttons on it, i gave him his stick (bo) back, i also added some ribons or i don't know what you call them in english on his sleeves (the things that some cowboy pants have on the side) that re-presents the feathers or the wings of robin, AND I GAVE HIM BACK THOSE COOL pillow stuff on his glove and his mask eyes are gold glow in the dark.

he also chose the name robin for the hard years he had as a kid and and how fragile his soul had become during his abusive years.
so yeah, he's an ass, and very deadly.
hope you guys like it.

L-JAMAL! CURSE YOU, IF I FAIL IN MY MATH TEST IT'S YOUr FAULT, YOU MADE ME DRAW ROBIN INSTEAD OF STUDING. YOUR SOUL IS MINE IF I FAIL.

Nope, that's all hand Marker, Dave. Prismacolor. I actually did the sketch in Colr-Erase pencil:

http://www.tomhodges.com/SD2008/RWRobin-BL_small.jpg

Then I adjusted the scan and printed out a B&W version:

http://www.tomhodges.com/SD2008/RWRobin-BW_small.jpg

And then hand colored it with Prismacolor markers:
