Shaft's bow has a string now.

And strangely on that cover it's missing.

Derec is actually a friend of mine, he's got mad skills and is a fantastic storyteller. The combination of him with Joe Casey should make for a very fun read. Never actually read any of the old books, but I'm going to give it a try since I really dig Derec's stuff.

Is it just me or...

From the looks of the shots where there's "no sting" on the bow it looks like we shouldn't see the string on the bow. Take the page with the motorcycle for example. That second panel where he's already fired the arrow off... should we be able to see the string from that angle? He's already fired so it wouldn't be pulled back.

Are we that ready to stomp on Liefeld that we're going to attack another artist the second we think something is amiss in this book?

Any artists want to chime in?

I'll go for a noprize on this one. :D

Depending on the angle and the light refracting of the bow, the string may just not be visible. It is a very thin string. I'd say the light has to be just about perfect to show up in a comic panel. And often times, the string may be vibrating back and forth, and that would also make it difficult to see.

Shaft bow is not a true bow, it a parallel accelerator (or something like that) and never was supposed to have a string.

I can't be jealous of a bow with no string, no matter how hard I try. I keep thinking it'd be better to just throw the damn arrows.

I was so dumb in the early ninties. I was in my late teens and early twenties, in the Navy and married with a kid and one more on the way. For some reason I over looked that Youngblood was an awful re-working of the Avengers. I was so struck by how cool it was for a "good-guy" to actually kill a "bad guy."

I have not been impressed since. Not one Youngblood redux has caught my attention intrigued me. They just seem to get dumber and dumber. Maybe this one will be different. At least Liefeld didn't draw it.

I missed Moore's Supreme too. I heard it was also pretty good.

I have seen all the new incarnations at conventions. Stupid me I bought one of each of about 4 different ones...they all suck! :yuk: :yuk: :yuk:

Mike225
12-03-2007, 07:36 PM
How can that be when I just said that it didn't suck?

Here's how it breaks down: Liefeld + characters created by Liefeld = suck.

Moore + one or two characters created by Liefeld + characters created by Moore and designed by Skroce = well done

Shoudl be out now if you can find a copy. It has supposedly sold out and they are re-doing another lot with a different cover.

That is one thing that really bugs me about Image lately. They print 200 copies of a book and sell them all and then they splash "SOLD OUT ISSUE" all over the place. Other than that, and this Youngblood garbage, Erik is doing a great job over there. Hopefully this Youngblood will die a terrible death.

Does its mere existence pose a danger to you or the comics industry?

Raven
01-23-2008, 11:46 AM
No, but there are certainly books that deserve the attention and support that this book is getting much more.

Liefeld doesn't deserve a successful book, even if he isn't involved, everything he touches withers on the vine and this will too.
