Here's this week's contest:


We have a JLA Elseworld suggestion from poster TheDarkMind. He asks that, since we did ninjas, let's do pirates. Your challenge is to draw one Leaguer, past or current, as a scoundrel of the high seas! The deadline is Saturday, November 3, 2007 @ 11:59 CST. After that, posters will vote for their favorite.

I know that with my lack of drawing skill it is hard to compete with any of the great artists on this board but I just had to get something in for this. The concept is just too awesome. This time instead of using a blank model I tried my best to copy an awesome pose by Jim Lee although I ended up having to trace some of the lines especially the "S" and the facial features. :( Anyway here is my take on Superman as a pirate.

I know that with my lack of drawing skill it is hard to compete with any of the great artists on this board but I just had to get something in for this. The concept is just too awesome.

It is a neat concept. Don't worry you don't have as much chops as some others, one thing I like about DW is seeing beginners' art. Sometimes they make choices a pro wouldn't that are really interesting--- like here Superman's face is the same white as the page, gives it a kind of modern art look (if that makes sense.)

Also the crayon look reminds me of kids drawings (which may not be what you want to hear :laugh: ) but is kind of cool when you get tired of seeing much more polished stuff.

So I voted for TDHodges (which I think is best technically) and yours which just has a fun appeal.

I'm new to the draw offs and I think they're awesome, you just get a few guidelines, a deadline and then you just go with it! Also you get to see all the different ways people took the same guidelines and it's been blowing me away and I can't wait to see what the next draw off will be :)
