The Electric Hellfire Club has a song called Mr. .44. Does that count?
Is it much like 'Mr. Saturday Night Special' by Skynyrd?

Darn straight. If you don't see Stevie Wonder's, Ric Ocasek's, or Trent Reznor's name on the album, it should be synth-free.
And yes, that means Kraftwerk, too.
Nuts to Kraftwerk.

Mmmm....
Yes, but I would like Rush just as much (or a little more) if they had not started using synthesizers. The synth is not necessary.

I have decided that your favorite song is Subdivisions.

Melrose ate them.
I have decided that your favorite song is Subdivisions.
I'm not a hardcore Rushophile; I only have three of their albums, and 'Subdivisions' is not on any of those three.
My favorite song is currently 'Starla' by Smashing Pumpkins, if you're interested.
Melrose ate them.
They're like veal, but without the pangs of conscience!

Billy was high and thought he was God?
Did you read the liner notes for the story about that song?
I vaguely recall the notes: Corgan met some girl whose name he thought was Starla, wrote the song, happened to meet her again and learned that her name really wasn't Starla. Was there more?
Mike225
10-09-2007, 11:23 AM
Only that her name is really Darla. Just curious if you knew about that.
Billy was high and thought he was God?
He doesn't think he's God, he thinks God tells him what to do. It's different.
Only that her name is really Darla. Just curious if you knew about that.
Yeah, Starla's a way better name than Darla. Too bad her parents were dumb.

If he does, he hasn't written a song about it. Unless I'm missing some "symbology."

That sentence alone is surreal enough that you don't need to fictionalize it for effect.
Last I heard, he lives here in Vegas actually.
