Some things I won't do for money

Heh, I'm on one of many (paid) Freelance service sites, and derive nearly all my income from them.
Lots of art projects cross my path, and a great many I'll do. However this one struck me (as I was invited to bid on it) as odd since I do comic/SF/& Fantasy:

Medical Illustration for STD
(1) Time it will take to complete 16 illustrations looking at these examples.

:yuk: how many of you would bid on a project illustration like this for between $250- 500? Thats the range they posted.

Some things...I just won't do, I couldn't even bring myself to look at his uploaded examples.

He may just be casting a wide net because he's having trouble finding people to take the job. What if the money were better... I mean a lot better? If the money's good enough, the range of things I'm willing to do gets pretty big too. When I was younger (and poorer) I did some pretty "out there" things... I won't cite examples. :) Where I draw the line is with violating my own personal morals and ethics; those aren't for sale. Or rent.

I dropped them as soon as they started charging. Most of those freelance sites (at least, when I used them) were basically a shill. Bunch of spambot bidders using (mostly Indian) laborers, totally underbidding everybody, no matter how generous you were with the bid, elance starting their own webdesign division so all webdesign jobs were headed off before being posted, people requesting jobs then never awarding a winner, etc. Then on top of all that, elance decides to start charging the people who are looking for jobs? Give me a break...

Actually I think it was Guru. I've only gotten 1 project off of Elance and the pay on that was pretty good (over 3K).
Alot of the contacts I get through Guru, won't follow all the way through Guru, they don't like the set up, so we end up working on our own on the side (which is fine by me).
All of them have a typical rate for joining. But I can't complain personally since I've made my entire income for the last 2 years from these services.
But I don't provide web services, so I don't know whats all involved in that.
But I have seen the India bidders, I wonder what the rate of exchange is from our $ to thiers, must really be worth it to them.
